Supercharged Nat Posted June 7, 2007 Report Posted June 7, 2007 I really want to do motorsport engineering.Any advice on how to get in? im guna sound like your old man but, make sure you do well now an until you start the course you want. i know at your age your not much interested in school and grades, i wasnt, but if i knew what i know now, i would have been! engineering is very mathematics based, so get good with your sums, i guess in motorsport engineering you could end up working with stress's and strains (mechanically within components) and theres some nasty equations in the middle of it all. maths has never been my strong point ive hated it my life and then i ended up doing a 3 year course thats full of it! so i kinda wish i had payed more attention to the maths side of things. to get onto courses like engineering, you just need to study relevant subjects. most unis will want a certain number of C's at A Level (or what ever the equvialent will be when you get there) and it wont hurt if there relevant to the subject you want to study) Most importantly, just enjoy your time while your at school and college/ uni as you only get to do it once! dont worry about all the stuff i said till your a little older though ok?
GT_Jim Posted June 8, 2007 Report Posted June 8, 2007 learn your maths is all i can say you will need it
Pye Man Posted June 8, 2007 Author Report Posted June 8, 2007 Yeah my previous education consists of Engineering type qualifications. I done a Btec intermidiate at school, an AVCE Avanced course and my HND in Manufacturing Engineering. Maths is a core part of the course, its used just about everywhere in Engineering. Get studying, pass maths and science as well as english (Grade C or better if you can) and you will be fine.
