FlashCadillac Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 was is a better spec engine that was in the Capri/Granaga... iv seen one for sale but it is advertised as a 3.0l... is it a 3.0 or has it been rounded up??
Pipster007 Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 I know they used the 2.8 Cologne in the 280 SE, but as to upgrading it to a 3.0 I do not know I thought they were just 280 or 350
john_3.0s Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 the 3000M had an essex in it, AFAIK they are exactly the same as the stock ford ones, although some 3000Ms had a triumph o/d gearbox rather than the ford one.
V8ian Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 The Wedge was the one fitted with the 2.8 and the M series was the 3.0, I think they were both stock engines, unless you happen to stumble upon a 3,0 Turbo from the 3000M turbo
Retromotorsport Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 Didnt the Essex V6 make a good turbo lump as it was designed as Diesel engine so can take higher cylinder presures and the big ends are large to take the extra forces ..
Pye Man Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 Didnt the Essex V6 make a good turbo lump as it was designed as Diesel engine so can take higher cylinder presures and the big ends are large to take the extra forces .. Mmmmmm. Sounds tasty
john_3.0s Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 ah forgot the 3000 turbo, i went to buy a 3000M once by the time i got the cash out the bloke had sold it for 300 quid less than i was going to pay as he didnt think i was coming back, even though I explained i had to go to work and would come back in the eve
FlashCadillac Posted June 26, 2007 Author Report Posted June 26, 2007 ok i dont have a clue what cars your talking about.... ....from that i think i understood.... its the same unless its the turbo http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... &rd=1&rd=1
V8ian Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 Not 100% sure, but was the twin throttle body only on the 2.9 so it could be out of a later car than the wedge. and its origins are now GRANADA, not even capri.

Dom Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 Didn't Janspeed or someone do a twin turbo essex v6? I remember seeing a pair of intercoolers on fleabay a few years back
FlashCadillac Posted June 26, 2007 Author Report Posted June 26, 2007 sooo has anyone actually stated weather the TVR engine is the same as the capri engine as im getting awfully confused
Retromotorsport Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 if its got a colongne block its Capri/Granada/Cortina/Sierra/TVR/GArtrac G6/ some Transits/ various boats etc If its an Essex block its Capri/ Granada/Superspeeds/Transits/boats/TVR's/Scimiters/ and countless 60's kitcars the ancilleries may be slightly different but as its complete it dont matter
Dom Posted June 26, 2007 Report Posted June 26, 2007 Pretty much all the 2.8 cologne and 3.0 essex will all be the same with maybe a few minor differences (not counting turbos of course). What a few people do is swap the 2.8 for the 2.9 cosworth, makes sense to me
