lee_capri Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 here we go this will up-set a few people as ive been a tit have mk1 capri for 4 years tryed to moderfire and fooked it up basicaly when to classic ford about 4 years back and saw one with mk6 escort bumpers on it and my kids said thats cool and said i should build similer type so i had a go what was i thinking, now for my problums ive cut the spare wheel well out so i crould get some up-swifts on it looks o.k. it as a 3.0litra in it with manural box it as got a mk3 back axle and front cross member 2.8i brakes and suspenion when i brought the car body were'nt that bad but every-thing that moved on it was very tired, it as had the drivers side door off it for about 2 years and it's out side the floor is still solid and no welding required it as a colone kit fitted with mk4 escort after-market bumppers wish i had left it alone but one mad idea turns to angouther some-times. now with my work load ive sorting mk1 granny for the mrss and the house it will be about anoughter 2 years before i can get to it you know it is should i sell the good parts and waigh it in or build a garage round it and do it laters, out of all the fords my fondest memorey is sitting in my dad's mk1 black in colour and i used to tell every-body it was a 3.0 but it was a 1.6 i was about 12 at the time and all my mates dad's had new cars. like all good fookups i can undue what as been done and go back to proper saw dust on the floor mk1 how i remeber my good old dad's
surfingturnip Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 keep it mate, they only get rarer and if its solid its worth keeping till you can get too it

lee_capri Posted June 28, 2007 Author Report Posted June 28, 2007 ive been thinking about it for about 2 years since i moved here it stairs at me from the side of my garden thats why im thinking off putting the garage up but i wanted to stick my v8 in their to sort the body work out and i dont think the council will let me have a multi-story as thats what i need this is what i own at the moment mk1 capri,mk3 capri,mk1 granny,mk3 granny dorchester 20foot of it,long wheel based speclift mk3 tranny, mk3 crew-cab tranny that im susposed to be making longer so i can beaver-tail it, land rover tdi 300, dolly, last but not least work van which is a luton, i dont use any-of my cars they are all taxed and tested acept the mk1 capri now you see the problum and my wife cant drive yet so i have anoughter 1 colecting dust i have ran out of room ole got pick up astra at week end with a set 17s multi fit on it and i got to park that some ware
Copey Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 for god sake please dont weigh it in!!! that would be a crime!!!
lee_capri Posted June 28, 2007 Author Report Posted June 28, 2007 yeh i no but the council are trying to get all the cars parked off road round our way and my garden is full so what should i get rid off i do love mk1 capris more than any-other but i had loads about 150 since i was 16 yrs old its a tough one and i do have my v8
Messenjah Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 dont weigh it in give it to me instead ill put it back on the road ull feel much better about it
louie bagel Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 i think we all get depressed some times mate but don't go and do something you may later regret, i think you should post up some pics of what you've done so far and let us help you thats what the OSF peeps should be here for maybee its time to think about putting her back to original, might not be as hard as you think! fresh eyes and all that
lee_capri Posted June 28, 2007 Author Report Posted June 28, 2007 i can brack it up for good money engine is ported and polished with fast rd cam, comp headers, comp clutch, brand new single lafes,2.8i billys, box not done loads of miles interiour is all good, panels all good colone kit fitted, and its not a rot box thats the sinkner would put it on ebay but got fed up with the pi**takers out their would rather sell it but dont need the hasel

Retromotorsport Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 Honest answer.. Dont weigh it in. 2 people have asked for it on here .. scrap is what £50 so charge them that. Transits .. the spec lift, sell it , get the beaver tail done, as thats a lot more usefull than a spec, you cant carry a shell on a spec!!! Unless your doing weddings .. sell the Dorchy to someone who will Astra.. grab the wheels.. and ebay it So there you have it .. 3 cars gone and at least they will live on.
Dom Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 Good idea Mr Retro Gary Man. As long as it can be undone mate you're fine, everyone gets forgiven their sins
lee_capri Posted June 28, 2007 Author Report Posted June 28, 2007 its a sin im sorry uderneith all that kit is a very very good body, i could rip the kit off and have it back on the road in 4 to 6 weekends the body underneith kit wants both rear archs tidying and two patchs on ither side front wing nothing as been cut acept spare wheel-well the rest is all as it should be,it no longer as that stupid front bummper on it or bonnet as have alredy repaced bonnet with fresh one and have a very nice set of crome-bummpers in shed i could put piture on of what it used to look like but you would kill meeeeeeeeeeee when i first brought it is was tested for six months only took it in back garden to tidy it up what a wapt mind as a proper boot lid now, also i made a set of side skirts which dont look that bad i think i should go and have some
Jarrodm Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 Thats looks "Fat" !!!!!!!!! I think if you sold your other bits (like retro said) and kept to the plan that would kill the show competition ! A full custom mk1 ! theres not many of them around, i LOVE how the front valance curves, looks very lady like....reminds me of a nice set of hips !!!! Don't give up ! were all here for you and ? Jarrod Edit Think of the chavs faces when you blitz em and stop at the lights and shout "Wow ! These Body Kits Do Make You Go Faster !"
Dom Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 Thats not too bad mate! Take off the front and rear plastics poo scrapers and that'll do!
lee_capri Posted June 28, 2007 Author Report Posted June 28, 2007 so you like that? but plastic is not fantastic when kits is on and finshed it would be a one-piece body-kit so do you think i should finish what i started or not
Jarrodm Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 I Personaly think......... In this case the plastic is King AWESOME ! Do you really want to be like everyone else ? Cars like that are trend setters, think about when classic fords were in fast car ? DO IT !!!!!!!!! when it's all one piece it will flow nicely, i think it's one of the most origional and innovitive styles i've ever seen. Nice one Jarrod
Dom Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 I didn't know what yes or no meant so just clicked yes. IMHO they look utter sh!te. Snowplough. Keep the cologne arches as they look awesome, give it that muscular stance. No good looking buff if it looks like its got a fat lip! But opinions are opinions and like aRSeholes, everyones got one
emu Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 Cologne arched mk1's look great, and the naca vents in the bonnet dont look out of place either. But the little microscopic scoop on the bonnet needs binning. And those bumpers are....um....interesting. If the car is solid enough though, which I assume it is, then it sounds like a good base so keep it and carry on with the rebuild. You can still make it individual and distinctive without ram-raiding motorworld.
Copey Posted June 29, 2007 Report Posted June 29, 2007 imo car stays, bumpers go!! the car looks in good shape and with the wide arches it look bad ass!! just take off the modern junk and keep it retro!!
spooner Posted June 29, 2007 Report Posted June 29, 2007 for fook sake, save it,seen this on e-bay a while back i thought then, someone should save it couse it looks straight.
