Thanks for all your thoughts. I have had the bonnet up and inside don't look too bad. I think the inner wing is probably okay. Therefore not as bad as first thought but still bad enough. Fingers crossed now it doesn't get written off.

Bad luck with this - you must be gutted.

Just a bit of advise, which insurance company are you going through (hers or yours?) are you on a agree value ?

I hope you get a classic friendly engineer that visits, be sure to mention from word go that you don't want it written off and that you want a cash settlement or contract repair.

If you want further advise PM me and i'll try and help

The comments from all of you have overwhelmed me, fear not the estate will live on, be repaired and grace the roads of Swindon once again........... :)

what a b@stard, they'll write it off for sure unless your on an agreed value policy. Make sure they know you want to buy it back though and dont let them take the car away, keep it on your drive

Just going through a claim for my daily driver which was parked up and hit by a guy 3 times over the limit on his way home from the boozer... :beat:

Hope you get it sorted soon Paul

Well to keep you all posted. Today had a call from insurance company and she has admitted liability so thats a good thing. Now wait for engineer to come out and look at my car.

Looks like i'll get paid the agreed value worth of the car which I put at £3000 which I thought was pretty reasonable or it will be repaired.

I feel a bit better than yesterday, just wanna get it back on the road and enjoy driving it!!!

Repaired worse for less than 3k in the past, so you'll be allright ..

That one had done the chassis rail and inner wing in.. came out with a bulkhead move back, gearbox tunnel, bolt in slampanel and front panel which was modified to take the custom rad and charge cooler .

my nans mk6 escort got banged on the side needed a arch and a door they wrote it off and gave her £300 but she gets to keep the car because its her property

Thats not technically true, the insurance company are buying the vehicle off you as though it was undamaged, so becomes the insurance companys property once values agreed / cheque rec'vd etc.

It's at there descrection that they allow you to keep it. (differant if you are a TP as in this case as you don't have a contract with the insurance company).

they did write mine off but u can normally buy it back for next to nothing as they dont want the hassle of collection and scrapping

mine was damged on the side much worse than yours

lucky my dads a panel beater!

i doubt you want to go changing the iner wing either unlsee its rotton which i doubt looking at the car as it big job and far easier to fix it

good luck !
