Admin Mk2Jo Posted July 5, 2007 Admin Report Posted July 5, 2007 Well, have just had a glimpse at the mag and we're (OSFDC organisers) really disappointed to see that Round 2 of OSFDC is not in the mag ..... Lots of people were waiting to read about the championship in this month's issue but I guess they'll have to wait for Classic Ford Mag to come out to read about Round 3 because that will be out before your Round 2 report Nice 17 page article on the prep for your trackday car though. CheeRS .... makes all our hardwork worthwhile.

Jo, i'm really sorry. The feature is written and the snaps have been taken but for reasons beyond me it's going in next month. It'll be worth it though as i know that Dave got some cracking shots. Retroford is deffo more than just OSFDC That goes wothout saying. Not all 'Retro' Fords are in the osfdc or OSF for that matter so the mag covers a broad field of the whole 'scene'. Col-ashtonmobile Posted July 5, 2007 Report Posted July 5, 2007 well i am totally pissed off with it , i spoke to ben at the beginning of the year to ask if we were going to get the same coverage as last year if not more , ben morley totally assured me we would !! , well straight away we are not , but we did when it was needed to get the retro ford mag off the ground last year did,nt we ! , so now the mag is established we are pushed to the side to make way for a 17 yes 17 page feature on their gold track escort plus a 9 yes 9 page feature on the track day it went to , which all happened after round 2 of ofsdc , so now we read about round 2 which took place in may in septembers issue and i presume the next report will be out about christmas , cheers i know where the osfdc stands as far as retro ford goes now

petrolhead01 Posted July 7, 2007 Report Posted July 7, 2007 Pathetic! next year let classic ford cover OSFDC 08, oh' and Tim Bollox! this is my first year in the osfdc and i am amazed how smoothly things run at the meets and think these people who organise it (you all know who you are) should get the coverage they deserve when it is appropriate eg : before the following rounds results and article has been published by there rival mag!!! you are always trying to get one up one each other and know you are just handing supremacy to them on a plate!!! so im with baz!!!!! bollox!!!: get your act together other wise me thinks you might loose some valuable readers!!!
Morley Posted July 9, 2007 Report Posted July 9, 2007 I think that a lot of your comments are slightly un-justified, un-fair and without a doubt a couple of them aimed directly at me personally, i'm sorry to hear that you feel this way. The OSFDC is something that i truly believe in and for that matter enjoyed being a part of even if it was only for one round. I will agree it's not great that it didn't go in the current issue, schedules being the way that they are and various other factors meant that it just wasn't possible. I understand your frustration at CF having round 3 in before we have round 2, but, had they not have covered it there wouldnt be a problem as it would have run in order as it did last year, probably with both rounds being in the same issue. Each of you that has posted has my phone number and is more than welcome to give me a call to chat about this to clear it up.
Admin Mk2Jo Posted July 9, 2007 Author Admin Report Posted July 9, 2007 So ... 17 pages of your personal project (which could have been spread over a few issues) meant that OSFDC coverage from April will now not be seen until August - it's a shame Ben - and that's not a personal dig at you, it's a complaint from a reader to a magazine editor.

It's a lifestyle come club's style feature and would therefore benefit from going in the main section of the magazine which it will do If you want to chat about it, you know the number

Also, your track day was a similar event and that was after the OSFDC
Morley Posted July 9, 2007 Report Posted July 9, 2007 Unfortunately the amount of pages that the tech section uses isn't something that can be easily played about with otherwise i would have done many times before - it's to do with how the mag is printed or something. I have had lots of good feedback about the tech section this month, it was a one off and it was an excersise to see what could be achieved with a bit of hard work. I understand fully your, and the rest of the OSFDC staff, concern and position regarding the fact that round three will be in CF before round two is in Retro. It is unfortunate that it has happened this way and i will look to make sure that it doesn't happen again.
Col-ashtonmobile Posted July 9, 2007 Report Posted July 9, 2007 the thing that puzzles me ben is why colud,nt the lakes tour go in next months and the osfdc in this months, correct me if i,m wrong but was,nt the lakes tour also after round 2 of the osfdc ??, i work on the osfdc for the members and my family , i,m not in it and i,m not even running this year ,the people are my priority and at round 2 the handicap winners and trophy winners this was their first year , so you imagine how they felt when they were looking forward to seeing themselves in the mag only to find out they have to wait another month and round 3 winners will have had the glory first
tim Posted July 9, 2007 Report Posted July 9, 2007 the lakes weekender was the week before osfdc and the guys from cumbria worked just as hard as you guys sortin out the tour,campin and the rsoc show the next day and have already set about arrangin the tour for 2008. every 1 that was part of the tour havin been waitin for this mag to come out becuase the tour was in there and to make up for what happened with last year but that had nothing to do with ben.
