Morley Posted July 9, 2007 Report Posted July 9, 2007 the thing that puzzles me ben is why colud,nt the lakes tour go in next months and the osfdc in this months, correct me if i,m wrong but was,nt the lakes tour also after round 2 of the osfdc ??, i work on the osfdc for the members and my family , i,m not in it and i,m not even running this year ,the people are my priority and at round 2 the handicap winners and trophy winners this was their first year , so you imagine how they felt when they were looking forward to seeing themselves in the mag only to find out they have to wait another month and round 3 winners will have had the glory first Colin If i put the lakes tour back, it upsets the people on the lakes tour. If i put the Drag championship back, it uspets them/you. Unfortunately no matter what i do, it's a no win situation. As it stands i have a lot of shows/events that are on hold purely because i have got so many on the go. The lakes tour was before round two (but that is not relavent), and the track day feature was tied into the technical section and so had to be in this issue. As i've said before it is a big shame that CF will be out with round 3 before we are out with round two, but that is the unfortunate danger when there are two mags for one subject. What i've said to Darren before about perhaps hosting a final or a special day for all the osfdc competetors in a private location still stands to give it the credit that you, and indeed i, feel it deserves.
Admin Mk2Jo Posted July 9, 2007 Author Admin Report Posted July 9, 2007 Round 2 OSFDC and The Lakes Tour were both on the same week-end. lakes was 12/13,according to this site the dc was the weekend after My mistake ... it was originally scheduled for 13th May
johnny_h Posted July 9, 2007 Report Posted July 9, 2007 I have just read the mag cover to cover (apart from the concourse corner - not my cup of tea. The z car) Great read. I very much enjoyed the gold member build and was a bit worried when I turned the page expecting it to be continued next month. I was relieved the whole thing was in one issue. I buy cf and rf and go to most rounds of the OSFDC so not too bothered about coverage. Keep up the hard work mate.
Col-ashtonmobile Posted July 9, 2007 Report Posted July 9, 2007 Ben m8, putting it in a nutshell i just feel that with the scenario with no photographer and reporter and having to wait 3 months for a report on a round the osfdc has slipped way down on your priority list , perhaps we were spoilt last year ? but this is making me feel that as your mag has got bigger ( and well done to you ) as far as your mag is concerned we have become smaller , surely an ongoing event like the osfdc needs to be spread out evenly between months/issues , i personally dont want to read about 2 rounds in one issue! or still be reading about it way into next year when we are nearly ready to launch osfdc 2008, as i said previously you verbally told me at the beginning of the year when i asked you 'would coverage be as good if not better this year ' you assured me it would , you never mentioned there may be delays in reports or possible difficulties .
Baz. Posted July 9, 2007 Report Posted July 9, 2007 the agreement was Retro cover all the rounds and it would not go to classic ford, round 2 not in the mag, and sponsers old ford not happy, round 4 no writer and no photo man either!! Hardly good coverage, crap i would say

DEP Posted July 9, 2007 Report Posted July 9, 2007 How come CF covered a round then? wasn't Twink roped into writing a report on round 4 lol Because they sponsored the round that they covered
Morley Posted July 9, 2007 Report Posted July 9, 2007 Ben m8, putting it in a nutshell i just feel that with the scenario with no photographer and reporter and having to wait 3 months for a report on a round the osfdc has slipped way down on your priority list , perhaps we were spoilt last year ? but this is making me feel that as your mag has got bigger ( and well done to you ) as far as your mag is concerned we have become smaller , surely an ongoing event like the osfdc needs to be spread out evenly between months/issues , i personally dont want to read about 2 rounds in one issue! or still be reading about it way into next year when we are nearly ready to launch osfdc 2008, as i said previously you verbally told me at the beginning of the year when i asked you 'would coverage be as good if not better this year ' you assured me it would , you never mentioned there may be delays in reports or possible difficulties . I appreciate what you are saying Colin and i've taken it on board. I agree that when we spoke on the phone i agreed that the coverage would be as good if not better than last year. With the way that our schedules work, it is a very difficult thing to get everything in the mag straight after it happens. If i did that, it would be all events and no cars. In no way do i consider the OSFDC to be smaller than last year, quite the opposite infact, it has gone from strength to strength and for that i salute you. It doesn't however make it perhaps bigger or more "deserving", for want of a better word, than anything else that goes in the mag. You may consider it so, but then so might the organisors of anything else that makes it into the mag!? As i have said several times, I believe in the OSFDC and personally I 100% support what you and the team are doing as much as ever and that will, as always, come across within the editorial coverage of the events. You may recall that with last years OSFDC round six didn't get in the mag until the March 2007 issue, which was on sale in Feb. Some four months later, nothing was said to me then!?
Morley Posted July 9, 2007 Report Posted July 9, 2007 the agreement was Retro cover all the rounds and it would not go to classic ford Correct round 2 not in the mag, and sponsers old ford not happy Round 2 isn't in the mag YET. I never at any point said that round 2 WOULD be in the August issue. It WILL however be in the September issue with Sponsor mentioned as agreed. round 4 no writer and no photo man either!! Hardly good coverage, carp i would say That was an unfortunate mix up, which I have apologised for but ultimately had no control over as I was stuck in a broken aeroplane with no phone. I am also working to resolve it. Twink OFFERED to write round four, he wasn't roped into anything. Plus we thought it would be an interesting insight into the world of the OSFDC.
Col-ashtonmobile Posted July 9, 2007 Report Posted July 9, 2007 well if you,ve taken it board then m8 lets leave it at that otherwise we can go on forever , all i want to say though is , there was no way i would have said to you about ( or critised )last years round 6 being in the march issue after the cracking job you did all year, and if you read between the lines here thats probably why i,m dissapointed the way this year is going ! well i,m off on my hols now so any more debates you,ll have to speak to the other osfdc staff cheers col
