mk2 stu Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 as hard as you want it to be! not kidding, if youve got the time and money then the world is your oyster, its only a case of how you mount the lumps and link them up to respond simaltaneously, its gonna cost tho!
antz Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 ive seen a twin engined renault 5 turbo before
Jay_harrier Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 It's worth joining one of the bike engined car forums, plenty of info around - take a look at the Smartuki site http://www.smartuki.com/home.html. A common method is to build a cradle around the bike engine that touches the right bits, then mount the cradle in the car. Transmission is always one of the biggest nightmares, ATB's, chains, reverse gear etc. Only other thing to say is budget for a super lightweight shell or turbo/supercharger - they don't have much torque. 600kgs all in is best, people will say you can go heavier and torque is not an issue but they haven't thought about how often you'll be changing clutches, stripped gears and bearings.... And, if you do 2 engines then you won't be able to run it on the road... I've got quite a few pics of a cradle setup for a Smart that I can post somewhere - pm me if you want them as I'm hopeless for checking back on these threads! Good luck & keep us posted

Mr Sam Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 dont let anyone talk you out of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
mk3cokebottle Posted August 16, 2007 Author Report Posted August 16, 2007 its gonna cost about £12,000 to build a basic twin busa powered one so i is lookin at other alternatives , as for th 1.6 lumps i dont fink it would be to nice to drive with two of them in a fiesta would get rather warm too i feel , there is always the hornet engines and also the engine they are now using for legends racing built buy yamaha so there are loads of alternatives but it will get done , as soon as the bank balance rises again after my beloveds spending spree i will be looking for a solid rolling shell to hide in my garage for a year
