Mr Sam Posted August 22, 2007 Report Posted August 22, 2007 well there i am attempting to remove the leaf springs from the anglia after hours of trying im actually getting somewhere then disaster blade gets trapped blade jumps at high velocity bounces off my wrist.....with enough force to break it then runs up my arm tangles itself in my jumper sleeve and starts buzzing, in shock i manage to turn it off then realise theres something rather hot in there after lots of struggling get it free but could hardly move me fingers on left hand immediatly put pressure on it so little if any blood loss but how lucky to miss all veins looks rather pathetic really but just rember it hit my wrist with enough force to break the cutting disk (i know it broke there as there were chunks of it in my glove and up my sleeve) wear full PPE people
fordtina3 Posted August 22, 2007 Report Posted August 22, 2007 the joys of osf... hope you ok.better get it checked out though. dunno what crap in your wrist now. did the spring come off though?

Durham Fiesta Posted August 22, 2007 Report Posted August 22, 2007 with the guard on its really restrictive to use a grinder, i very rairly have my one on
Mr Sam Posted August 22, 2007 Author Report Posted August 22, 2007 had to take it off to get the cutting disk on as it bigger for some reason
emu Posted August 22, 2007 Report Posted August 22, 2007 with the guard on its really restrictive to use a grinder, i very rairly have my one on Its even more restrictive to use a grinder with fingers missing. Lucky Sam. Good on you for wearing gloves and decent sleeves. Its too easy not to bother, after all 'it wont happen to me!!' .
Durham Fiesta Posted August 22, 2007 Report Posted August 22, 2007 with the guard on its really restrictive to use a grinder, i very rairly have my one on Its even more restrictive to use a grinder with fingers missing. when you put it like that , i realise how daft my comment was
over_head_cam Posted August 22, 2007 Report Posted August 22, 2007 Glad it's only minor damage Sam. Could have been worse without the gloves. Be careful out there boys and girls
Mr Sam Posted August 22, 2007 Author Report Posted August 22, 2007 clarke from machine mart, bout a pound with the VAT on
emu Posted August 22, 2007 Report Posted August 22, 2007 clarke from machine mart, bout a pound with the VAT on Thats a bit steep mate. I got a pack of ten from 'the range', was 1.99, Grinding disc and cutting discs!
GJUK Posted August 22, 2007 Report Posted August 22, 2007 were you putting a massive amount of pressure on the disk? J
Mr Sam Posted August 22, 2007 Author Report Posted August 22, 2007 when i took the guard off i thought 'skinned knuckles time' i ususally buy cheap disks but they last minutes and i think the blade got trapped between the hanger and leafspring thats why it jumped out
Twinkle Posted August 22, 2007 Report Posted August 22, 2007 ouch, never put pressure on them let them do the work and they cut quicker too
Mr Sam Posted September 1, 2007 Author Report Posted September 1, 2007 pretty sure ive fractured something in the top of my hand, in quite a bit of pain still if ive got something heavy in my hand and bend it the wrong way and i cant change gear hard
