X-pack-Glyn Posted October 21, 2006 Report Posted October 21, 2006 not a problem as such, sounds quite good really, but its only done it since fitting the forties. its running spot on, plenty power and all. got a bit of oil blown out the filler cap last night too
Tom Posted October 21, 2006 Report Posted October 21, 2006 just fuel burning in the pipe mate, maybe a little rich?
Fiesta Steve Posted October 21, 2006 Report Posted October 21, 2006 I'd say you possibly have an air leak. Did you use new misab plates on the carbs
BaileyMex Posted October 21, 2006 Report Posted October 21, 2006 I remember when I had my old Forest Arch'd MK2 1600 Sport and that was runnin so bad once upon slowing down for traffic lights etc Po..po.p..pop..pop..pop..po.p....BANG ! as a big flame shot out of the back of the exhaust LOL sounded the nuts tho
Guest pooface Posted October 21, 2006 Report Posted October 21, 2006 Same here the lil fiesta used to always stick flames out the back on the over run
deluxe Posted October 22, 2006 Report Posted October 22, 2006 mine is like that as well. heard all carb engines are like that but the pops are louder with a big exhaust
X-pack-Glyn Posted October 22, 2006 Author Report Posted October 22, 2006 well, im going to leave it as is, it goes well, ticks over suprisingly well considering the engine spec , if i give it a rev afetr ticking over a while it sounds ace, with the way it is it sounds like a real naughty pinto when coming off the gas. also removed the viscous cooling fan today, defo spins up nicer now without that nasty whooshing sound... gona have the head off in the week and do stem seals at least and maybe a bit of flow work to the ports as i have nothing better to do really.
bomber1 Posted October 22, 2006 Report Posted October 22, 2006 I remember when I had my old Forest Arch'd MK2 1600 Sport and that was runnin so bad once upon slowing down for traffic lights etc Po..po.p..pop..pop..pop..po.p....BANG ! as a big flame shot out of the back of the exhaust LOL sounded the nuts tho i had a morris minor that done this. made two oaps jump 6ft of the floor
sambo Posted October 22, 2006 Report Posted October 22, 2006 Mine started doing that more and more recently. Love it, sounds awesome!! makes me feel like a rally slag.
MadMark2 Posted October 22, 2006 Report Posted October 22, 2006 i had a morris minor that done this. made two oaps jump 6ft of the floor Lucky u didnt send 'em 6ft under ground 1 of my old mk2's on twin 40's did that alot too, multi story carparks are best........... Listen to them car alarms going off
john_3.0s Posted October 22, 2006 Report Posted October 22, 2006 could be timing slightly retared so gasses are being ignited late and remain burining when exhaust valves are open, sounds ace but may burn out your exhaust valve seats in time. More likely just over fueling on overrun as every twin webbered escorts i have owned have done
