Mk 1 Mark Posted September 22, 2007 Author Report Posted September 22, 2007 Happydayz..............Thanks to Kev for taking me to track and road and waiting for me, Where do i start,Steve said it took 2 hours just to get it running... and they had checked most things,i had left odd plugs in engine,Due to me taking 1 or 2 out and replacing them with new ones to see if fuel was getting into the cylinders. They compression teasted each cylinder which is fine 225 per cylinder Throttle pot on the throttle bodies is just a bit to big on the spindle so he has to fabricate that with a good old bit of black tape!! The engine is sitting on the rack,My fault engine mounts on the wrong sides.(chassis mounted). And i never checked it The fan switch is not working,so had to bypass the switch.. And the handbrake cable bracket under the rear of the car is hitting the prop! And i never fitted a throttle stop,so if you nail the throttle it pulls the bodires out of balance Now as the engine has been completely rebuilt with new rings manis bearings, and all 16valves reseated new gaskits all round ect The two steves done all the low down stuff running in side but said were the sump is hitting the rack-crossmember its vibrating badly so that needs to be addressed first, before they give full power run. So now i have the car running nicely and its back on the road. But need to sort out these few things take it back and see what its got. Forgot how noisy there are but now on throttle bodies it engine noise awesome,And straight cut box...suspension.ect Luv it Stopped in the petrol station and let Kev drive it home so i could here and look at it on the road and everythink about the car makes me so happy i have my oldskoolford back on the road BHP results will now be sometime next week but the two steves said the engine feels really strong So im going to have to wait,But am i bothered though
Mk 1 Mark Posted September 22, 2007 Author Report Posted September 22, 2007 All sorted Car drives as it should now and goes really well... Big thanks To Kev16v helping or should i say doing most of the work needed to get the car back to the way it should Think kev has drove it more than me.... Even stopped Bigrod from going shopping with the wife,so he could have a look at the car.... Saying that he had a blast in it, All i can say is im one happy bunny and cant wait to see what sort of power it has but its got enough Spoke to Steve Greenald and he is going to fit me in as soon as he can next week
