Someone is selling a rare xpack mk4 cortina on ebay for £2500 of which there is only one other survivor (on Gails website)...

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FORD-CORTINA-MK4- ... dZViewItem

All well and good until you read the questions

Q: you say this car is a manual, but it is a auto shell?? can you tell me why ?

A: Hi when I originally purchased the car it had been stood outside for twelve years & was heavily corroded floor collapsing etc so i managed to get a identical shell same year, colour & model except it was a auto i have the correct pedal assembly & have altered the shell to Superspeed spec all other original components are saved from the old car.

So he's actually selling an auto mk4 cortina shell with some xpack bits and in reality there is only one xpack cortina left...

Discuss.

Its a reshell, so really its not a SS anymore, just an Mk4 with some SS goodies fitted, even the new shell is an Auto where the old one should be a manual

surely it would have been better to sell the complete original rotten shell and then say 'oh' by the way I have a mint auto shell which comes with the deal.

Legally you can't restamp the shell so it's still gonna have the wrong id..

It's basicly just a Mk4 with an essex in it, RS option front and rear spoilers and some tweaks by the company that converted it (alterd camber and castor, stiffer springs and the floorpan/bulkhead alterd very slightly).

Pretty mutch the same as the SA 3.0S but with the UK rear susspension and the engine lower and further back.

The Ex system is a hodge podge of taunus and cortina UK/SA parts

Watch it or this will start the debate 'is a mexico still a mexico if it's using an 1100 shell' debate again.:lol::lol:

In my eyes the guy wants 2.5 k for a cortina shell with some bits that have been stripped of a higher spec car

and it ended with no bids, suprise suprise
