I've read alot recently about people claiming certain mods aint old skool and certian looks dont go, too bigger wheels, wrong engine, carbon fibre.

Surely its the car itself that counts, the look and feel of a classic ford, the shape of the sillouette.

I bought a mk2 escort coz i love the rwd drift, shape of the car and coz i love it!

Surely it dont matter what engine i put in, especially as its fooking quick! does it matter that it comes from a vauxhall ? and if i want to put carbon fibre bits on its my choice? :ykt:

Fit what you like but don't moan if people don't like it when you ask them . Old cars look best with period mods so 17 inch chrome wheels , tv screens in the dash , F1 style aero-foils and mesh front grills is a bad move  . Engines don't really matter though because a fast car is a fast car weither it's got a vauxhall engine or a B.D.A in it but people will always like it more with a Ford power plant .

if its old skool 90% of the poeple will point and say wow look at the old car

if its got blinging rims and spoiler its gonna look more like anew car and they prob wont notice.

personally i couldnt give a shit :-D

im gonna get me some chrome spinners for under my bubble arched and bolt a sharks fin on the roof with led's in

m8 they have been swaping engines out of one make into another since cars moved. u will always find some jealous twat that will put down ur car.

as long as u dont ram raid halfords its all good in my book :ykt:

I really couldn't give a flying fook what people

think of my cars...

If they tell me the 17" alloys I put on my Cortina look pants

then thats their thing. Never did it to please them anyway... **

But on the other hand if I dont have anything constructive/good

to say about someone else's car then I keep quiet

** It's still on the 13" steels, but I'd like some 17's

doesn't really matter as long as it does not have chav stuff clued to it

my four door is about five different colours has one alloy a different colour and the rear arches are falling out of it but

I LOVE IT :mrgreen::mrgreen::ykt:

So that Zaksped and Broadspeed supersaloons of the early 70's wernt period with their spoilers and 12X15 inch wheels

Or the Later Zakspeed Mk2 Gp 2's with 11x15 wheels and arches and spoilers in 76-78

or the Gp5 monster Zakspeed Capris and Escorts with 14x19inch wheels arnt period either ..

all of the above cars won more world class events than the rally cars ..

or this car, which is a replica of Nick Whitings mk2 isnt a period car.. its was the only car taking the fight to Jerry Marshalls Vauxhall

0-10.jpg

perhaps i should go and drag some pics of Terry sangers mk1 cortina in here .. with ist huge wheels or any of the other supersaloons of the day

If its shell is old school then its old school ... done deal

We're talking about street cars though not thunder saloons that you need to drag about on a trailer everywhere  . If you put all the road bits back on a car like that then it would look a bit weird :?

I asked this question when I got my Pop 'cos it had a Rover V8, Vauxhall HA Front and Jag IRS, in fact the only Ford bit is the body, but everyone said that it's about as Old Skool as you can get, so yes, as others have said, it's the body shape that counts.

I'd love a 289/302ci Muzzie V8 in me Pop but it's not going to happen any time soon... :(

IMO

its the body that counts. aslong as it looks like the original car then its old skool.

APART from white mk2's with vauxhall engines. they're nothing like old skool and should be burnt along with the owners :wink:

as a fairly new person to this site, here's my thoughts for what it's worth :ugh:

oldskoolford.co.uk cars are those that the creators/owners of the site (that we have chosen to be part of) consider to be oldskoolford - end of that story

as for what's 'old skool' - how long is a continually rolling piece of string?

and what you want to do to your own car, hell go for it and have fun

i'd stick an electric motor at each hub if I was clever enough and a bj machine under the dash :ykt:
