SmokeEm Posted October 1, 2007 Report Posted October 1, 2007 Yesterday, Jeff came right out of his way to adjust my tappets, change the oil & retorque the head down on my Capri. Now I know for most of you guys/gals that it would be a walk in the park but I'm a total novice with no tools To say Jeff took his time and explained everything as he went would be an understatment! - Can I just say a BIG thanks Jeff - you made my day and you are WELL on your way to becoming a legend like you're Dad is. I am so grateful to everyone on here for their help & advice ongoing (Others also offered to help me - you know who you are) but I still can't believe I had Jeff playing under the bonnet of my humble Capri! Thanks again mate.

X-pack-Glyn Posted October 1, 2007 Report Posted October 1, 2007 Go on then, what bit of the engine did i get wrong then?
SmokeEm Posted October 2, 2007 Author Report Posted October 2, 2007 Go on then, what bit of the engine did i get wrong then? Nothing Glyn - Jeff was well impressed with the work you carried out for me & couldn't believe how little you charged me! He basically carried out all the little bits that you said would need doing after running in, i.e. tappet reset, oil change & retorque the head down. We put in the oil you suggested also which was what HPE use anyways Hope to see you at Boxhill Saturday if Jeff gets time to fix the exhaust stud problem.
Jeff HPE Motorsport Posted October 2, 2007 Report Posted October 2, 2007 Does that mean you get an HPE sticker on the cam cover mate? Good engine that mate, a credit to you I said to to Dave theres a nice place on that rocker cover for one of our stickers, but I wouldn`t steal someone elses hard work.! I think he replied he wouldn`t want one on there unless it was a genuine HPE motor.! Dave it was a pleasure meeting you & working on your car as well.! I am having some " HPE Motorsport" T shirts & hats made, so if anyone is interested, PM me. Allways "Harris and Proud" Jeff Harris..

X-pack-Glyn Posted October 3, 2007 Report Posted October 3, 2007 Yeah, its really free reving that one. told Dave to get at least a 2 inch filter on there as the 1 inch would make the carb run a bit rich, and i wanted to dechoke the carb but Dave didnt want it doing. i think the gearbox is on its way out though.
