Admin Vista Posted October 12, 2007 Admin Report Posted October 12, 2007 Well my 406 winter hack I bought in September last year ended up staying around for 13 months rather than the 4 or 5 I had originally intended, but much as I like 40 or 50 mpg and lots of comfort and toys, I really want something a little more exciting as a daily drive. I have a good (ish) size budget and want something fast, but well equipped and comfortable and preferably convertible. The jury is out on 2 seats or 4 (I used to have an SLK and loved it but occsionally 2 seats can be a pain) Anyone got any good suggestions that I may not have thought of?
Guest MK1gaz Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 How much you spending ? Best convertible for exictment on the cheap is a mk1 MX5 or S2000 for a new motor
4parajon Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 I thought it was the law that you had to be either a girl, gay or a hairdresser to drive a convertible
Guest MK1gaz Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 I thought it was the law that you had to be either a girl, gay or a hairdresser to drive a convertible ok if they're proper classic soft tops though ( tr6's , alfa spiders , crayford cortinas etc etc ) . New cars are gay full stop + plastic
bmxdave Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 except for the S2000. It looks proper (long bonnet, short cab) and anyone in the know knows its a proper sports car. Doesnt look too girly either, and itll never break down. Put a louder exhaust on (but not a silly bean can) and people will be looking for a motorbike coming Then if you ditch it you got a great donor engine

Guest MK1gaz Posted October 12, 2007 Report Posted October 12, 2007 what about a T.V.R then ? They are a proper blokes new type convertible
Admin Vista Posted October 12, 2007 Author Admin Report Posted October 12, 2007 I do like triumph convertibles and have often been tempted by a TR5 or TR6. I once liked stags and was on the verge of buying one but when I test drove it I was so dissapointed with the drive I gave it a miss. But I already have two classics so it has to be something modern. I do like the S2000 and they're a fabulous drive, other 2 door convertibles I'm considering are the Boxster S and an old shape AMG SLK. I also like TVR's but have never known anyone to have one that hasn't let them down. 4 seater convertible options I guess are limited to the CLK and M3, though I may temper the M3 down to a 330Ci I haven't completely dismissed the idea of a coupe either Budget? £15 to £20k I guess.

I'll post up a pic for you tomorrow Those are the hot favourites of the moment, how old is it and how much, mileage etc? Get a Corrado VR6... I loved the one I had and would buy another without question. I've had 3 corrados, 16V G60 & VR6 and love em to bits but they're a bit long in the tooth now. I expect I'll come full circle and buy another one in ten years time when their officially classics volvo being a biker I have an irrational and probably unfounded but intense dislike of Volvos.
