Rick Posted October 22, 2007 Report Posted October 22, 2007 the calipers and pads do not match? although i brought them both for 'escort/capri' never checked til just., i need pads with two retaining pins in them, these have 3
flyingbanana Posted October 22, 2007 Report Posted October 22, 2007 mine also have 3 holes but fit fine.....you only need the 2 any way... the 3rd hole is useful for a bit of leverage if you need to get them out at a later date..
Rick Posted October 22, 2007 Author Report Posted October 22, 2007 nah they defo dont fit mate the pads are too wide
RUSTYPUP Posted October 22, 2007 Report Posted October 22, 2007 Those calipers have the pipe fitting in the middle like Mk2 Tina ones. Escort/Capri ones are different and have similar looking pads but they are a bit bigger, I think.

Rick Posted October 22, 2007 Author Report Posted October 22, 2007 oh poo. they marry up to the legs ok so im gonna use them. looks like i need some cortina pads then anyone know which model? and these pads are for sale then £20 ferodo or il swap for the right ones
spooner Posted October 22, 2007 Report Posted October 22, 2007 the holes in the middle are for anti rattle springs to sit in.
V8ian Posted October 22, 2007 Report Posted October 22, 2007 Have a look at the calliper, They dont look like P/M 16s may be P14s, there should be a ID cast into them somewhere
escort21 Posted October 22, 2007 Report Posted October 22, 2007 They do look like P14s Ian, will be imperial threads then Rick which means you'll have to get some imperial pipe connections, be easier to get escort ones matey
Retromotorsport Posted October 22, 2007 Report Posted October 22, 2007 And if its a brake improvement you want then get M16's .. bigger pad area..
escort21 Posted October 22, 2007 Report Posted October 22, 2007 And if its a brake improvement you want then get M16's .. bigger pad area Which is why the M16 pads don't fit...
jimbo Posted October 22, 2007 Report Posted October 22, 2007 M16 calipers feed in from the top and the bleed nipple is at the top too. On the subject of bleeds. How would you guys remove one that refuses to budge and it now quite rounded? I was thinking a stud extractor into the bleed hole. with some mole grips around the outside. It's already sitting in WD40 overnight.
beedz Posted October 22, 2007 Report Posted October 22, 2007 grind the tip off to a flat and then cut a slot for a screwdriver and add the mole grips for good measure or grind two flat sides for a spanner
Rick Posted October 22, 2007 Author Report Posted October 22, 2007 oh bugger anyone wana but some cortina calipers?
