JAY PS Posted October 23, 2007 Report Posted October 23, 2007 Just been made of aware of the low emisson zone being thrown around the London home counties area from Feb 08 More info here http://www.tfl.gov.uk/roadusers/lez/default.aspx Im right in thinking that all diesel engined pre 02/03 vans and lorries will need to be majorly altered to get within the new emissions and the emissions rules get even lower in 2012 What does this mean? Well if you use your van and travel within the M25 at anytime and your van was made after 1973 then you WILL have to modify your vehicle ,approx cost quoted so far £2,000 + This is so Mr Livingstone can get all the old bangers off the road ! Ive just today spoken to VW as i have a 03 T4 which would need to be modified by 2010 and was told by them sell it and get a newer van ,that made me mad as hell ,i have a mint customised 2.5 tdi with only 23,000miles and in just over two years i cant drive it unless i pay for mods or £100 a day !! I welcome your comments folks as until a few days ago i hadnt been aware of this being law next year . The cameras system being used is already installed on major routes such as the A3 So what happens next -- well they will get the commercials first and then the older cars ,there is even talk of charging you to drive in or out of M25 area !!

If you want a traffic free London, remove the car parks and parking bays and have parking permits for all legit vehicles (including vans of the folks who keep the capital painted, fed and topped up with coffee and newspapers) Vans=Commerce Cars=Rich Tossers who look down their nose at getting on a bus/tube/train/bike. Like Chrissie Hinde said, don't get me wrong....... I like cars (why else would I be here) but I also like traffic free streets. In a few glimpses of sobriety, I remember the inner reaches of Amsterdam being so quiet, I asked a local if it was a public holiday!

We only have ourselves to blame as no-one will stand up for anything anymore, so he knows he can get away with it all. Apparently there will be no discounts/exemptions for people who live within the zone. I will not be dictated to about what I can or cannot drive, & I will defend my motor vehicles right upto when I go to court. This country is a King joke, laws are put in place to protect the guilty, and we, the motorist have to pay for everything. Get this, they want Livingstone in place for the olympics so bad, there may not be an election, and even if there is, they know Borris Johnson doesn't stand a hope in hell, thats why the Conservatives have put him forward. Until someone actually makes a stand, the only vehicles left on Londons roads will be busses. Ken has even upset the cabbies by making a rule up to have all black cabs running on LPG by a certain date... who has to pay for that? the cabbies, that's why they are annoyed! It's a real bitch for everybody. It even includes buses & coaches,roadsweepers,refuse trucks,gritters,ambulances,hearses,horse boxes,campers and more.Think of the expense to both individuals and tax payers to replace that lot?
