SmokeEm Posted November 7, 2007 Report Posted November 7, 2007 Please excuse my ignorance guys but why would you swap a N/A cossie for a duratec? Surely you can similar power figures? I was under the impression that a useable atmo cossie can be 250bhp ish and a useable dutatec about 280ish so why the hassle? Is is purely down to weight etc or does reliability come into it? Why can the duratec make more power?

Why can the duratec make more power? i know Steve Broughton has been developing the Duratec and i have seen one of his engines on the rollers..... Awesome
Guest MK1gaz Posted November 7, 2007 Report Posted November 7, 2007 A full monty duratec is the most powerfull engine after a Millington Diamond which is an atmo cossie of sorts . A Millington engine is fooooooooooooooooooooooooooooking expensive and makes a race duratec seem cheap . Here's a pic of the worlds greatest 4 pot screamer
Escortavo Posted November 7, 2007 Report Posted November 7, 2007 Best of luck with the sale and new project ....awesome lookin escy
cossieglen Posted November 7, 2007 Report Posted November 7, 2007 Have a look at Steve Broughton's results here mate for the reasons why. http://www.sbdev.co.uk/Duratec/Duratec%20Taper%20throttle%20top%20of%20the%20range%20kit.htm Matt's N/A Cossie is 225bhp, and a very good, very strong 225bhp at that, with 150lbs of Torque, and has helped him on the way to 20 class wins in sprinting. SBD's Duratec at the moment (yes there is more to come according to Steve) is 304bhp with 197lbs of torque. I don't think anyone can deny this is a considerable jump, and with the 315 Steve is talking about it having after the next phase, with over 200lbs of torque, Matt is staring a 90bhp and 50lbs torque gain over the current engine right square on in the face! Enough to temp even the harshest Duratec critics I would say.
cossieglen Posted November 7, 2007 Report Posted November 7, 2007 There you have it folks!!! I think that says it all!
