Richierich Posted November 12, 2007 Report Posted November 12, 2007 Well this is the new motor, the temptation of ebay was too much. 1969 mk2 Cortina 1600E in pale blue. Apparently this is a rare colour for an 'E'. can anyone confirm this? Its pretty stock except for the suspension which consists of decambered single leaf springs at the rear and was apparently are capri struts at the front. I have vowed not to start playing around with it until the escort is back on the road. Hope you like it
lotusless Posted November 12, 2007 Report Posted November 12, 2007 looks well nice m8 +no you don't see many E's in that colour.
Stu_B Posted November 12, 2007 Report Posted November 12, 2007 Lovely car Rich!! It looked good driving towards me on steart beach (the fact it had tools & a petrol can in it might have helped though ) Can't wait to go out for another cruise in the new generation of OSF's!
surfingturnip Posted November 14, 2007 Report Posted November 14, 2007 I remember seeing that on ebay, it looks great. Nice find mate
ezydriver Posted November 15, 2007 Report Posted November 15, 2007 That does look cool. I particularly like the picture in the petrol station. The one of the back of the car. I like the angle and everything. It sets it off nice. Really nice car mate.
Admin Vista Posted November 15, 2007 Admin Report Posted November 15, 2007 Very nice Richie, how's the escort coming along? And your dads mk2 Ghia? Quite an OSF gathering you're building. Oh and Frenchie? Nice Avatar, who is that??

Richierich Posted March 26, 2008 Author Report Posted March 26, 2008 Well haven't said much about tina for a while so here goes, Since owning the 1600E I seemed to have done a lot just to keep her running and in one piece. A few months back I was lucky enough to have a lady back into it whilst sitting in the car! It was almost unbelievable how she did it! But anyway the damage wasn't too bad except for that ultra good condition bonnet trim which, as told by V8Ian are stupidly expensive in good nick. But other than that its had new polybushes on the inner and outer tca, this has solved the wheel wobble problem! The spotlights were wired the wrong way round and luckily resulted in nothing more than a few melted wires before Dad noticed what was happening. Then the breakdowns started, which after many tows home, was attributed to crap in the fuel tank, the car would tick over fine but under revs would cut out, so we removed the tank and found a load of crap in there, bits of paper, pieces of plastic and lots of rust! So that was put back together, but whilst turning it over to pump the fuel through the starter motor died! So that was replaced along with a new battery, new dizzy cap, new condenser, new rotor arm, k&n air filter, another pair of 1 and half inch lowering blocks (making 3") and, Finally!!!.... Job done! touch wood things have been trouble free since! Oh and have removed what must be the first in car CD player to be made, the question is do I leave the Status Quo Rockers Sticker in the back window??... Sorry to go on, heres some pics, Cheers
Admin Vista Posted March 26, 2008 Admin Report Posted March 26, 2008 That's nice, where do you keep finding these cars?? That's three between you and your old man now isn't it?
Richierich Posted March 26, 2008 Author Report Posted March 26, 2008 Cheers Scott, well the mk1 will always be there, the mk2 was meant to be the practical, everyday use on, but is a bit too good for that! And the 1600e is justified by the free tax and cheap insurance! Oh and they were both flea bay jobbers!
