jimbo Posted November 14, 2007 Report Posted November 14, 2007 Hi Jo. I bet you wish you hadn't boothered asking.
Admin Mk2Jo Posted November 14, 2007 Author Admin Report Posted November 14, 2007 Nope, I'm actually glad I asked because a potential new member on here has registered and I think he's been deleted as a possible spammer because he used "3024E" as a username and his real name is Andrew Booth ..... Now, if we (Admin) think that someone looks suspicious when they register we delete them and he had a very strange e-mail addy as well so I think he must've been deleted by one of the other Admin (I know I haven't deleted him). Bear in mind that we delete between us somewhere in the region of 50 spammers per day. So I replied to him and apologised and said could he please re-register with another username and he replied: "I DONT WANT TO USE A DIFFERENT NAME........ I THOUGHT YOUR GUYS WERE TRUE FORD MEN AS MY USER NAME IS '3024E' THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST USED AND COMMON PART NUMBERS AND CODE NUMBER FOR MOST OF FORDS 70'S VEHICLES. I USE THIS AS MY EBAY ACCOUNT AND OTHER FORD SITES I GO ON, MOST PEOPLE WOULD RECOGNISE IT AS ME, AS IVE BEEN INTO THE OLD SCHOOL FORD SCENE FOR A VERY VERY LONG TIME." and so ... I was wondering if it was just me being funny or not so I thought I'd ask if anyone on here knows him or his part number bet you wish you hadn't asked now !!! Oh, and I wouldn't normally disclose anything on here about someone's personal e-mails to the site but this actually got my back up - one thing I can't stand is arrogance
SmokeEm Posted November 14, 2007 Report Posted November 14, 2007 Don't take it personally Jo. He probably thinks that the mods here are as power hungry as some other sites (e.g. Capri Power) We all know that ALL our mods are fair & reasonable & he will too once registered See you tonight

BaileyMex Posted November 14, 2007 Report Posted November 14, 2007 Mistakes happen, but I agree, spammers usually use odd sounding names to sign up

over_head_cam Posted November 14, 2007 Report Posted November 14, 2007 And I thought everybody into old Fords would instantly recognise the username Looking through various sites, it would appear that 3024E is only a prefix anyway and there's a few different components that start with those digits Can't please everyone Jo
