all credit to you fella for making your own but why don't you use a datatool revlight? yes it was made for bikes, but it only has 3 wires and a programming earth very easy to fit all you need is an electronic rev counter as you need to tap into the pulse feed, at the bottom of this web page is some vids of it in use, the one i had was set up so when max revs were hit, the whole display flashed very quickly until revs dropped upon gear change.

1. I've not heard of the datatool revlight before you told me.

 

2. Now that you have, the cost. The revlight is £60 on ebay. Mine cost less than £20.

what i meant was are the lights getting mounted straight into the dash, or is the whole unit sitting on top of the dash...
