antz Posted November 24, 2007 Report Posted November 24, 2007 why does everyone always look down on the 4 door osfs??? its annoying when you are at a show or meet and you get over looked cos of your rear doors or if they are recognised its usually 'shame its not a 2 door' and everyone i talk about this with says that 4 doors are meant to be sleepers? why are 4 doors looked down upon so much?!?!?!?!??
Admin Vista Posted November 24, 2007 Admin Report Posted November 24, 2007 I don't think people intentionally look down on them Antz, it's just that most people of a certain age get all misty eyed over the memory and the sight and sound of two doors being ragged sideways through the forests in the 70's
RFChris Posted November 24, 2007 Report Posted November 24, 2007 We all used to really like them, but then this northern kid bought one. He was called Chantz, or Bantz or something. Either way, it all went downhill from there.... I agree with Vista though.
antz Posted November 24, 2007 Author Report Posted November 24, 2007 i see the point of the rallying but weather its got 4 doors or not they should all get the same recognition cos its still the same car just with 2 more holes in it i dont know what other 4 door owners think but it makes me personalyl feel inferior to those who have 2 doors
Cortinacat Posted November 24, 2007 Report Posted November 24, 2007 My Cortina's got 4 doors. Don't think they did the Crusader in 2 door form. 2 door forms were base 1.3 or at best L 1.6's so Ford preferred the 4 door option when new.
Admin Vista Posted November 24, 2007 Admin Report Posted November 24, 2007 i dont know what other 4 door owners think but it makes me personalyl feel inferior to those who have 2 doors OSF Antz, feel the love be careful though, I've heard there are a few that like to feel more love than others
Messenjah Posted November 24, 2007 Report Posted November 24, 2007 i prefer the 4 doors antz much more practical
bmxdave Posted November 24, 2007 Report Posted November 24, 2007 If you ask why they prefer two doors over 4, for other reasons then looks, then theyll say its because they handle better or are lighter or something along those lines. What they dont realise is that a 4 door is much stiffer as its actually got a decent b pillar, and any weight loss can be countered by removing the rear door internals and fitting plexi windows. So we are better!
johnny_h Posted November 24, 2007 Report Posted November 24, 2007 I don't give a fookin flying fook if an osf has 2 or 4 doors. Seeing one on the road is great either way.
antz Posted November 24, 2007 Author Report Posted November 24, 2007 ha ha ha vista and messenjah i just wanna know why they are always looked down upon. i do mean all over and across all osfs here not just mine before i go on heres one of my personal experiences: took the car to the garage for tracking to be done and whilst waiting i heard a mechanic go 'hey u seen that mk2 escort on the ramps? shame its got 4 doors'...that was it. nothing else said but it does make you feel shit after all the ffort you put into your pride and joy to hear something like that. imagine been at a show and someone walking u to your car and going 'oh its only got a pinto' then walking off
johnny_h Posted November 24, 2007 Report Posted November 24, 2007 ha ha ha vista and messenjah i just wanna know why they are always looked down upon. i do mean all over and across all osfs here not just mine before i go on heres one of my personal experiences: took the car to the garage for tracking to be done and whilst waiting i heard a mechanic go 'hey u seen that mk2 escort on the ramps? shame its got 4 doors'...that was it. nothing else said but it does make you feel crap after all the ffort you put into your pride and joy to hear something like that. imagine been at a show and someone walking u to your car and going 'oh its only got a pinto' then walking off Everyone get's comments mate, you could have a mint original zakspeed capri and someone would have to say something negative about it. "No good for shopping" for example. Get over it man.
lotusless Posted November 24, 2007 Report Posted November 24, 2007 if i had the cash mine wouldn't be a fookin sleeper !! but i make you right though, "too many doors" blah blah blah i've had more two door escorts than i can remember, but they drive just the same. a lot of people on here are very ANAL when it comes to four doors. maybe we should get our own forum, so i dont read another post slaggin us off coz they are so much better than us, just coz they have a fooking two door.. SO WHAT IT'S AN OSF!!
johnny_h Posted November 24, 2007 Report Posted November 24, 2007 What the hell is happening here? Who is slagging off 4 doors?
Admin Vista Posted November 24, 2007 Admin Report Posted November 24, 2007 I'd let it go in one ear and out the other Antz, there's always someone critical no matter what you've got, for instance: - Mint concourse car: - Standard complaints from fans of modifying and improving about trailering it or not enough performance or not driven often enough Genuine RS/Mex: - Opens up the type 49 whingers can of worms, along with "Is it a real one?" Modified RS: - How could you modify a genuine RS can come from some of the concourse fans 4 door: - Guess you've already heard all of them. RS lookalike: - Shame it's not a real one Live and let live I say, we're all in it for the enjoyment of it after all
antz Posted November 24, 2007 Author Report Posted November 24, 2007 jonnyh i see your point and everything but its not just me and the terracotta terror im on about... i mean over a whole as to why 4 doors are looked down upon. the amount of people who go 'nah id ont want a 4 doors they arent as good' or take for example that in all the tiems ive read cf and rf mag ive only ever seen 1 full feature on a 4 door in cf mag and goldmember in rf. its always 2 doors. i just wanna know why people always say that 4 doors arent as good or dont like them as much or put it bluntly...think they are shit compared to a 2 door vista i understand about the in one and out the other but there is only so much you can take and afte a while you wanna punch the next person who says it
Mr Sam Posted November 24, 2007 Report Posted November 24, 2007 neither of mine came in 4 door format
Capripete Posted November 24, 2007 Report Posted November 24, 2007 I normally get get variations of is it a v6/3.0/2.8i when i'm out in the 2.0 capri, apparently a 2.0 isn't a real capri according to some muppets. Ignore em, i do.
PIG Posted November 24, 2007 Report Posted November 24, 2007 its an each to there own type thing i think m8,people will coment on any car.you will get good and bad coments.dont let it bother ya if you like the car what the fook does it matter if no one else does tbh.on a public forum i think your gonna have to live with good and bad comments imo.if people like it they do end of and vice versa again all imo
Pipster007 Posted November 24, 2007 Report Posted November 24, 2007 Absorb all the good comments like a sponge and feel happy, then tell the slaggers to fook off, as they're talking out of their rs's then sit back with a nice cold and sit and admire the fine machine that gazes back at you
Noodles Posted November 24, 2007 Report Posted November 24, 2007 I get stick from people cos its a estate, I say envy can make people say crazy things
antz Posted November 24, 2007 Author Report Posted November 24, 2007 ha ha ha envy makes us all go crazy
over_head_cam Posted November 24, 2007 Report Posted November 24, 2007 That's why I love Old Skool Ford. You can have anything you want and you're still part of the family. 40 quid or 40 grand, 4 doors or 2 it doesn't matter Like Sams, mine only came in 2 door format
tim Posted November 24, 2007 Report Posted November 24, 2007 nothing wrong with 4 doors there loads better than 2 doors for rallyin as u dont have to climb over the seats to get to the rear suspenstion
Muttley MK2 Posted November 24, 2007 Report Posted November 24, 2007 When I bought my first mk2 cortina GT in 1975 (a 68 four door) they were the ones to have. The 2 doors were not any way near as popular. This was the same with the mk3 and 4. The escort though has always been a different story, the sporty ones were always 2 doors and as such have a more sporty appeal. As no real sports versions of the escort have ever been made this is why the four door is not as popular. Ask yourself, if you had the choice would you have a 4 or 2 door? If the answer is 4 then be happy and dont get a complex about it.I find the capri the best of the osf's and thats my choice and it only ever has 3 doors
antz Posted November 24, 2007 Author Report Posted November 24, 2007 if 4 doors are better for rallying why do people spaz around over the 2 doors so much? personally i love my 4 doors. i love the whole car. its jjst tedious when pople go on about how much better 2 doors are or the odd silly comment of 'weld the back doors up'.. ..
