tim Posted November 24, 2007 Report Posted November 24, 2007 if 4 doors are better for rallying why do people spaz around over the 2 doors so much? personally i love my 4 doors. i love the whole car. its jjst tedious when pople go on about how much better 2 doors are or the odd silly comment of 'weld the back doors up'.. .. because that what ford used
Noodles Posted November 24, 2007 Report Posted November 24, 2007 I work on the thoery that estate are more arodynamic
Admin Vista Posted November 24, 2007 Admin Report Posted November 24, 2007 I work on the thoery that estate are more arodynamic More room in the back for after dark shenanigans and a whole lot easier to pitch than a tent
Muttley MK2 Posted November 24, 2007 Report Posted November 24, 2007 The 2 door shell is by its nature a stronger shell for rallying as the more holes you put in a car the weaker it is! When I did club rallying in the seventies we ran my 68 mk2 tina gt and it split and cracked all round the b pillar base so in the end I welded up the rear doors....job done!!
antz Posted November 24, 2007 Author Report Posted November 24, 2007 Got pulled by the old bill for that pitching a tent? so i wonder that if ford all used estate for rallygin then everyone would want the estate mroe if only i could go back in time to see a different outcome
Muttley MK2 Posted November 24, 2007 Report Posted November 24, 2007 Its a pisser aint it! I wish I could go back in time and not f**k away all the countless osf's that I have f**cked away
fezza Posted November 24, 2007 Report Posted November 24, 2007 It must get right on your t*ts mate, its very frustrating, thing is people are always going to have an opinion no matter what you have, when i had my 2 door mk1 escort people used to say ''is it one of them mexice's'' no mate its a 1300 L. The reason i think 2 doors are more popular is because the sporty models were always 2 door, back in the day everyone wanted the RS or the mexico and if they couldnt afford one then lets have a replica,When i was 18 i liked mk4 escorts but i didnt want the popular plus,i wanted the RS turbo(dont have a go at me i was young and foolish ) As Phil said the great thing about oldskoolford is it dont matter what you got or how much it cost you,you love it,we love it just let negative comments pass you by mate
v6pop Posted November 25, 2007 Report Posted November 25, 2007 You think youve got problems,Ive just bought a Morris Marina...2 door of coarse Dont let the comments get to you.....its an old Ford so be proud of it!
Noodles Posted November 25, 2007 Report Posted November 25, 2007 Got pulled by the old bill for that pitching a tent? so i wonder that if ford all used estate for rallygin then everyone would want the estate mroe if only i could go back in time to see a different outcome There was a rallyed estate
Rick Posted November 25, 2007 Report Posted November 25, 2007 i wouldnt say theyre looked down upon theyre just less desirable cuz every1 wants a rally lookalike that weighs less theres some shi.t hot 4 doors about and id choose one over atatty old 2 door when it comes to value for money
sambo Posted November 25, 2007 Report Posted November 25, 2007 I think it's the fact that 2 door cars are more 'motorsport' are'nt they? The broadspeed or zekspeed racers or any other race cars just arent 4 doors! BUT. For fast road and for just the enjoyment of having an OSF, you should feel lucky you have one mate!! On the road, a 2 door is no better than a 4 door. My dad had a mk1 4-door and i fell in love with that car. And i agree with what everyone else is saying about whoever looks at your car, they always have something negative to say about it. I got my new car, took a gamble and sold my much loved black beast. And all anybody could say about it was "ooh, that bits rusty" or "you need to sort that bit out" Never mind the "wow, look at your huge brakes" or "nice one Sam, you finally have yourself a bubble arched mk1 that youve always wanted" Just frigging ney sayers pee me off. No matter what you have, someone will pick holes in it.
Noodles Posted November 25, 2007 Report Posted November 25, 2007 Its wired, some people always say 'why an estate?' 'why an old escort?' 'What is it?' or simply 'Why?' i just repily why not you try doin this to a modern car. My mate who drives a saxo with lexus lights of all things loves the car
Noodles Posted November 25, 2007 Report Posted November 25, 2007 Lexus lights. I know, he a total pretty boy but he loves the estate, then you get some old boy telling me how i should have built it
sambo Posted November 25, 2007 Report Posted November 25, 2007 Lexus lights. I know, he a total pretty boy but he loves the estate, then you get some old boy telling me how i should have built it Lol, does he have "estate agent hair" and a thumb ring!
Noodles Posted November 25, 2007 Report Posted November 25, 2007 Not quite but he could live in river island
Nettles Posted November 25, 2007 Report Posted November 25, 2007 At the end of the day if you’re happy with your car then fook what every one else thinks. There’s always gonna be some muppet who’s gonna pick holes but I’m sure that everyone on OSF looks through the whole 2-door 4-door thing and just appreciates the cars for the time and effort that’s gone into them. I always get grief because I’m gonna run a ROVER V8 and not a Ford V8, but as I said before screw them it’s my car and I’ll build it my way.
Twinkle Posted November 25, 2007 Report Posted November 25, 2007 4 doors are the daddy and i must admit im toying with the idea of making my 2 door a road car and then making my 4 door my track car, because i can
razersedge Posted November 25, 2007 Report Posted November 25, 2007 i've got a 2 door but people always moan and look down on it because its got a xe lump and not a ford lump i just get wound up and end up saying well i'll kick your fooking arse on the tarmac because they are usully the ones with the standard pinto and xflow's and its wrong to modifie it in there eyes
Guest gone Posted November 25, 2007 Report Posted November 25, 2007 Imo 2 or 4 doors whats the difference price may be but its still osf thats all what matters to me your car looks
Mick The Cabbie Posted November 25, 2007 Report Posted November 25, 2007 1. I really dont think RS boot spoilers, Mex front spoilers, 1/4 bumpers, bucket seats, roll cages and Cibies suit 4 door Escorts. Just my opinion.. 2. 4 door Mk1 Cortinas are the nuts! 3. Why don't many peeps run 4 door Mk1 Escorts?? 4. My van has 4 doors This one was at the Donnington spares day last year. It was one of the few cars in the carpark that i couldn't leave alone. The fact that it has full width chrome bumpers, square head lights, side mouldings etc and wasn't trying to be an RS somehow made it soooo cool! What made it even cooler was the snorting crossflow barking at us as it arrived
bigglesmk2 Posted November 25, 2007 Report Posted November 25, 2007 Four doors are the way to go,for the price of a good two door shell i can buy a four door with t&t use it everyday and get smiles allround Never had any negative comments(yet). I go to an RS meet in syston where theres mint RS2K's,Mexs and 20k plus rally cars,i pull up in my banger four door park next to'em and dont look out of place or feel out of place. It's all about the love for the old escorts,im a young guy with two kids so cant afford a minter.
flyingbanana Posted November 25, 2007 Report Posted November 25, 2007 i promised my self i would have one when i kid.....when i got mine i couldnt care less if it had 2 or 4 doors...i just needed one.....i hear the same comments all the time.....even where i got my paint from they said they would have brought it if it had 2 doors.....my comment back was they all do the same thing GOING SIDE WAYS ...if you like it then what does it matter
