Gaz, you seem to be rather anal about Anglia owners not liking Pinto's.

The reason is nothing to do with the Pinto as an engine per se, just that is it too heavy to fit to an Anglia, and if you fit one you have to mount it a long way back if you want the car to go round corners, plus all the suspension upgrades that would be needed. But wouldn't all those mods be cheating?

My mates got a pinto in his anglia and it handles the same as one with a zetec in it (only his pintos faster) as they weigh about the same . All this "pintos are too heavy for anglias" bollox was invented by people trying to sell over priced slow zetec conversions

Gotta love the MK1 capri rally car that served up all the featherweight circuit racers around the test track despite only running on 6 inch wide wheels :ykt: . Top motor and driving

no thanks , i'd rather walk (which is just as fast ) and cheaper . Anyway on a serious note there's no way on this earth that a pintos no good in an Anglia . That is the bigggest load of bollox i've ever heard EVER , it's just a myth

On the day Steve Bennett and Nick Williams drove Neils 105e and were very impressed. Its not and ST170 lump as far as i'm aware just a black top with a set of cams and some mild porting and 45 dellortos.I know he's hoping to get into the 13's once he takes it up the Pod although the gearing does it no favours. He drives the car every where on a daily basis and to shows all over the country, and its an all steel, fully trimmed ,all the seats and glass etc road car

Yep Neilm's motor is a proper nice comfy road car alright but his gearings the same as my old pinto had (type 9 box , 4:1 diff ) and it's still slower even though an Anglias lighter than an Escort with a (too heavy) Pinto fitted

I'd love to see you walk from 0-60 in under 7 seconds...

The amount of work required to put a Pinto in an Anglia is alot more than putting a pinto in an Escort. And a lot more than putting a Zetec in an Anglia. I'm not denying a hot pinto is a good engine. It just that the extra work required to get it in an anglia isn't justified when a zetec will drop straight in when you've bought all the expensive bits you need (thought I'd get that in before you did Gaz  ).

And you don't go understeering into the first hedge you see because you've got a heavy boat anchor up front.

See, I did bite after all.

I can appreciate people wanting zetecs because they can buy a fitting kit but they don't go very well for the money needed to fit them . The pintos not much heavier and goes much better that's all

top issue again guys  a good variety of nice motors & the yearly planner has already got a space on the wall at work :lol:

polybush feature ain't too bad either :mrgreen: thanks again for that chris/ben/jason, much appreciated

Yep i sure did drive the car on the day and have to say i was impressed by the car drove it drove very well and pulled nice too , Gaz your an old Mate and i know iam going to get shot down for this but i know neil has never done drag racing or anything like that before and does not claim to be a good driver , iam pretty sure if i was driving his car i would of been able to get into lows 14s maybe high 13s thats car for sure , i would say that it has not got the midrange grunt of a nice pinto , but revs well thats for sure

Wait for it Wait for it :wink:

No mid-range grunt is what kills zetecs off and leaves them trailing behind the pinto based motors  . They never normally go very well so i'll be very suprised if that motor got anywhere near a 13 at brunters without gas or taking off all the heavy bits
