antz Posted December 27, 2007 Report Posted December 27, 2007 it may be fast no matter what anyone says though....youd still look gay in a nova
Mr Sam Posted December 27, 2007 Report Posted December 27, 2007 true which is why someone needs to stick an XE in a fiesta
Noodles Posted December 27, 2007 Author Report Posted December 27, 2007 I think they will still be one of the last cars to restore, I cant see anyone in 10 years restoring anything newer
antz Posted December 27, 2007 Report Posted December 27, 2007 I think they will still be one of the last cars to restore, I cant see anyone in 10 years restoring anything newer why would you restore a nova? youd prob get more respect if you restored a citreon picasso
Noodles Posted December 27, 2007 Author Report Posted December 27, 2007 Iv had this discussion with sarah a few times what would be the last car people would bother to restore, I cant see corsas or mk5 fezzas being done, I think it will be novas and rs turbos
badchild Posted December 27, 2007 Report Posted December 27, 2007 I quite like em, and im not afraid to admit it lol!!
bigglesmk2 Posted December 27, 2007 Report Posted December 27, 2007 In about fifteen years time there will be a group of ppl into old skool hot hatches,Saxo's,Corsa's,Clio's.Each to there own i suppose but i wont be joining them. Would like to think i'd still have a mk2 escort and still get the respect OSFord's deserve.
beedz Posted December 27, 2007 Report Posted December 27, 2007 I think they will still be one of the last cars to restore, I cant see anyone in 10 years restoring anything newer why would you restore a nova? quote] don't like them myself, but one of my mates when i was an apprentice used to strip them out and drop in cavalier engines no probs (even did a calibre turbo one once - the lad he did it for wrapped it within weeks )
Copey Posted December 27, 2007 Report Posted December 27, 2007 Iv had this discussion with sarah a few times what would be the last car people would bother to restore, I cant see corsas or mk5 fezzas being done, I think it will be novas and rs turbos i hate to agree but you are probably right there
Wessie Posted December 27, 2007 Report Posted December 27, 2007 im not a massive fan, but i wouldnt say no to a 2.0 caged rally slag, oh wait i didnt say no . . . . i do not own a nova now . . .
Gonzo Posted December 27, 2007 Report Posted December 27, 2007 I'd only ever have a nova if someone had done a RWD conversion with an XE lump or something daft. Never will I own a FWD car.
ilovegrannys Posted December 27, 2007 Report Posted December 27, 2007 The only time i had a Nova is on the track at St Day... and you can guess what happened to that!!! IN THE WALL after a race. Best place for them.
M11rf Posted December 28, 2007 Report Posted December 28, 2007 I used to have a nova 1.0 Dropped a 2.0 16v in... went like a train. The fun thing was, it was a Nova, and you were pushing past Mercs and BMs on the motorway at 120mph... How bad must that make them feel
mk1super Posted December 28, 2007 Report Posted December 28, 2007 Im going to be diplomatic and say they have there place in the motoring world. But they arent my cup of tea.
davreeve Posted December 28, 2007 Report Posted December 28, 2007 We built and raced one this year in the spedeworth rookie rod summer league with considerable success ,i,m not a great fan of them but had to admire the amount of abuse it could take and still win!
Mick The Cabbie Posted December 28, 2007 Report Posted December 28, 2007 Obviously if they're chaved up, they're not too good. But done properly they can be an ok motor.. There's a totally standard lookin B reg green Nova GL hatch knocking about on retrorides. It's still got the standard green "GL" interior, sits on 14inch silver painted steelies from a Cav and runs an XE lump(also in green). It's a proper sleeper.
X FLOW EDDY Posted December 28, 2007 Report Posted December 28, 2007 Dont knock the proper nova rally cars out there my best mate has 20 grand sunk in his, 187 BHP all steel SBD bullt 1.4 16v on 45mm taper bodys, mbe 3d ignition and all the tricks stright cut quafe dog box with a tran-x diff and inturnal linkage GP A drive shafts Harry Hockely 2 1/4 front struts with pillbeam linkage Masive ap 4 pots " works" roll cage The list is endless !!!!!!!!!!! And it scares me to death
Nettles Posted December 29, 2007 Report Posted December 29, 2007 Mrs Nettles has had a couple of Nova’s back in the day and I’ve got to admit that when I was younger I got behind the wheel of a few SRi Nova’s and they were bloody rapid. Of course most Nova’s still on the road today are chaved up shagged out crappers driven by nob heads.
Toby Posted December 29, 2007 Report Posted December 29, 2007 ill confess and come out the closet........i wouldnt mind one speaant hours mocking my mums then weeks mocking me mates tinted thing but now there not seen as much there getting kinda cool 12.7..........£500 They can be awesome with a 2.0 16v in them but you wont do 110mph for £500!! That's a pretty sorted spec I'll bet. I had a mate with a std 2.0 16v on 45's years ago - it was fookin quick - ran 13.99 at 100mph on street tyres. Fast for a FWD! Have to admit I loved it
J Elvy Posted December 29, 2007 Report Posted December 29, 2007 there was a white XE (i think) RWD nova on ebay a year or two ago and then i see it in kenley parked next to two round black circles in the road!! wonder which car they belonged to!! now that i would buy
