antz Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 i thought if it was off the road before the SORN reg came in then it would be ok i dont know a lot though
flyingbanana Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 i thought if it was off the road before the SORN reg came in then it would be ok i dont know a lot though i think the same...cant recall when it 1st came out in force
MR "S" Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 I BOUGHT A CAPRI A WHILE AGO, I JUST RE-REGISTERED IT,THEN SORNED IT. NO PROBLEMS.
bigglesmk2 Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 I BOUGHT A CAPRI A WHILE AGO, I JUST RE-REGISTERED IT,THEN SORNED IT. NO PROBLEMS. What he said Didnt sorn one of my mk2 escy's for afew year's,was in my name but a different address.Put it in the misse's name then back into mine under the new address and sorned it no prob's
over_head_cam Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 My cortina hasn't seen the road since..well I don't know when, so it doesn't come under the SORN regulations. Can't remember exactly when it came in though
Jubfab Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 If it came off the road in 2000 you'll be ok .. When it next gets MOT'd and taxed thats when it kicks in.. You can check on DVLA site - if it says SORN due to expire then you'll need to inform them (can be done on line) If it just says liability 2000 for example then you'll be fine.. http://www.vehiclelicence.gov.uk/EvlPortalApp/
H.P.E harry Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 Sorry i didnt catch that, where abouts in surrey?
Seals2 Posted January 25, 2008 Author Report Posted January 25, 2008 Sorry i didnt catch that, where abouts in surrey? wouldnt you like to no harry!!
FredTransit Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 Yip of ot was taken off the raod before SORN it won't need to be sorn'd until after the next tax it gets runs out.
prefectopop Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 If you buy it, sorn it straight away, any liability prior to date of purchase will be that of the previous owner.
peterbilt Posted January 29, 2008 Report Posted January 29, 2008 So long as he has proof of when he bought it and who from he should be ok tell him get a receipt
Rick Posted January 29, 2008 Report Posted January 29, 2008 not had a reminder for mine since putting the logbook in my name
crapichris Posted January 29, 2008 Report Posted January 29, 2008 I had a similar problem3 years ago, apparently if it was off the road before SORN started then it ain't SORN'ed therefore it ain't part of the 'SORN thing' so is exempt until the first time you re-tax it
Seals2 Posted January 29, 2008 Author Report Posted January 29, 2008 right guys spoke to him this morning he went down to the man and the man has told him the car came off the road in 2000 and he has also said he hasnt has no tax reminder plus he hasnt had the new style logbook. so does ne 1 think this car may not come uo on dva records?

All will be ok m8 , if it had not been taxed since 1979 I would be wary of it still being registered, but at 2000 should have no probs

If they argue about it, stick to your guns. Remember even if the previous owner had a car on SORN, it expires when it changes hands.
Seals2 Posted January 29, 2008 Author Report Posted January 29, 2008 thanks guys think he going to get it 2nite.
