right, need to know everything there is about lsd's. ive bought a quaife lsd for atlas axle and been told they not great for drifting/donuting etc..

apparently plate type lsd's are better?? i dont understand this as with jap cars such as skylines and silvias etc.. use geared lsd's for drifting and ive heard that plate types will slip and wear with hard driving.

any input to this would be great

What usually happens with the quaife lsd's is when one wheel gets light, like on hard cornering it spins one wheel. And when going to do a donut you have to drive along and handbrake it into the donut.

Plate type lsd's just work better all round, the standard capri lsd is around 25% lock, but with ZF twin plate clutch kit in it, you can make it about 70% or more with extra shims

THE HANDBRAKE INTO A DONUT IS NO PROB BECAUSE IVE SEEN TWINCAM LSD'S ETC BEING BOLLIXED FROM FLOORING THE CAR FROM STANDSTILL. ITS NOT GOING TO BE ABUSED JST THE ODD FEW DONUTS AND THROWING IT SIDEWAYS FORM JUNCTIONS....

I've got an atb in my van and you can get the back end out no problem. Sometimes though it does feel like an open diff when throwing it into 90 degree corners (junctions) that aren't totally flat.

totally agree about the cossie viscous diffs. Only any good for launching really. Also had a few embarassing moments when leaving meets, and only the inside wheel lights up

Go for a plate type slipper. MUCH MUCH better IMO, always lock without fail, and are great for sliding about with. Got one in my mk1

Mines got a quaffie ATB and it doughnuts and powerslides like a bastard :ykt: . Plus it don't break 1100L english standard halfshafts either

It's early days mate!! Keep those tyres pumped up!!

I am a plate fan, had heard the ATB's can unlock, really, when you least want them to.

know this might be heresy but......

i think were all getting screwed by quaife and £400 for a 2nd hand zf is taking the piss

lucky for me ive been given a salisbury, which #1 is a strong as a brick shithouse #2 you can get a diff locker brand new for £230 from the uk for it #3 comes as stock with a 3.9:1 cwp

i know for track use the ATB diff is better, but for hooligan behavour and drag strip a diff locker does the job 100%
