Just to name a few cars (fords) i bought and the price i paid for them!!

 

Anglia £20. in 1988, (1st car) i was quoted £180 to get it througt its MOT

Corsair £250. in 1989 with a long MOT

Cortina MK5 i swaped for An Anglia, both cars were MOTed

Escort MK1 2 door £80. in 1991 with a long MOT

100E £30. 1992 good body, but rusty underneath

Escort MK1 2 door £30. in 1993 and another £100 to get it through its MOT

Anglia £15. in 1994 solid,but no engine or box

300E rolling shell £125. in 1994. Escort front and Anglia rear.All welding done but lots of work still left to do

Consul MK2 long MOT £750.

Anglia with a 1,500cc, 2000E box, Classic struts and so on, and i swaped it for a 1939 Austin 8 hot rod,but needed work in 1994 Anyone remember the Anglia, as it stood out as i painted it "PEACH"

Cortina MK2 on the road £250 in 1995

Prefect 107E £40. no engine or box in 1995

Cortina MK2 MOTed but needed work £200. in 1998

Cortina MK1 complete but in bits £80. in 1998

Cortina 1,600E £100,but very rusty in 1998

Anglia (1959 105E rare or what) £250.in 1999 and another £150. to get it MOTed

Anglia rolling shell with a Escort front £40. in 1999 (which i put a Pinto in it and only sold it for £200 with a flip front in 2002"sorry Stu" Needed it out the way as i was making room for to build my garage!

 

I could go on, but there'd be no one left a wake on here! It just shows in the last 5 years or so, how the old fords have gone up in value. :lol:

My list is quite long so here's the best one,It was about 2002 and i bought a mk2 2door auto for £20 it had just ran out of t&t.I only wanted the disk brake front leg's for my other mk2,was running drum's on the front :shock:

Then sold it to my dad for £20,he put my old drum brake leg's on it and used it for two year's b4 selling it back to me again.I ran it into the ground then swaped the whole car for a pair of 2.8i front leg's :dope:

 

Was a good deal at the time.

4 years ago cortina Mk3 £200 running but needing sills

3 years ago cortina Mk3 2 door GT £300 3/4 of a shell no running gear ect

2 years ago cortina 2.3 Ghia S estate £4 :thumbsup: 1 sill and MOT'd

 

Aew they worth more now then :mrgreen:

always here this when people find out i'm into old fords the usual " we used to get them escorts and as soon as they needed a bit work we scrapped it and bought another for a 10er". I'd have to sell a kidney to get near to being able to afford one now :)

1998 I bought my first car Mk1 Escort 1300GT for £500

1999 second car Mk1 Escort 1300L for £500

 

2004 bought my Capri for £595

 

what's the chances of picking up another Mk1 for £500 now???? :roll::lol::lol:

Here s a few of mine as ive owned /tradered nearly 2,000cars so im not listing them all

1987 1977 Capri 1.6L £90

1989 1966 GT Cortina which i paid £75 and sold last year as scrap for £425

1986 GT cortina mk1 £225 (i still have this)

1989 Granada 2.0GL mk1 in gold took in part ex and £20 for Escort 1.3L 1976/P

1990 Several Granada Ghia mk2 s for around £200 up till £600

1991 Cortina mk2 super paid £150

1990 mk5 Cortina 2.0Ghia s 1982/X bought for £1999

Mk2 Escort 1300 Ghia = £195 in 1999

Mk1 Escort 1300L = £600 in 2000

Mk1 Escort 1300XL (1600 Mex lookalike) = £1200 in 2001

Mk2 Escort 1600 Ghia (Spare or repair, crash damaged) = £90 in 2003ish

Remember bout 1994/5 i swapping an Austin Princess 1700HL for a 1965 Corsair 1500 deluxe ( reg was 808 HLL ) .

The Corsair had been sat in a garage since 1974...needed sills , tyres and brakes to get a test on it , i thought it was the b*llox ........

 

The Princess lasted the bloke about a week :D:D:D:D

This is a TRUE story! I bought my first car in 1974, it was a 1971 MK1 escort van. It had been a service van for a plant hire firm. I paid £15 yes £15 and it was barely 3 years old!! It came via Brentford auctions and it cost me bout a fiver to fill it up :shock: Oh for the good old days...sigh :(

i paid £1200 for my first car in early 06, it was a rotten mk1 fleet model (only 5 in the uk)

sold it 3 months later for £1500

had 16 cars since :mrgreen:

1968, my first car. 1957 Ford Prefect 100E. Paid £55 for it. It had a habit of popping the front circlip that held the gear cluster to the gearbox mainshaft and the shaft would slide back through the rear bearing and 2nd gear would be lost. Had it down to about 90 mins to remove box and replace circlip. Solved it in the end by putting a valve spring in the prop sliding joint so that the mainshaft could not slide back when the clip came off.

1970. 1960 Ford Anglia 105e 997cc. Paid £35 Cheap and rusty.

1972. Ford Zephyr Mk2. Paid £55. Great car, had the fully reclining front bench seat, spent many summer nights crashed out in that.

1973 Another Anglia. Paid £100. This time a 1961 with a 1500 engine, really solid car, wish I had kept that one.

1974. 1964 Mk1 Cortina 1500 Estate. got married that year and had our first child so sold the Anglia and bought the estate. Paid £80. Bought it from a local farmer who had been using it for milk deliveries. High mileage and had to replace the rear spring hangers but it gave me 3 years fautless motoring Great load carrying capacity, moved house using this.

1977. My current Ford. A 1966 2 door Mk1 1500GT Cortina. Paid £95. It had 800 miles on the clock, just been round once, on it's 2nd 100,000. It needed another engine, £35 complete from a scrappy in those days, and had a dent in the drivers front wing. Used as a daily runner till 1993 when I changed jobs and was doing 20,000 miles a year, only breakdown I ever had was a snapped fanbelt. I've done 141,000 in this car over the 31 years of ownership, now on engine number 3.

1993. 1981 Ford Cortina Mk5 1.6L. Paid £240 with 11 months MOT. Got it through the next MOT but not worth repairing after that, Probably think differently now though.

1995. 1984 Ford Sierra 1.6L. Paid £600.

1998. 1986 Ford Orion 1.6L. Paid £650.

 

Had various short term non Fords over the years, 1960 Mini, 1957 Austin A35, 1961 Triumph Herald Coupe, 1992 Vauxhall Cavalier, and my current daily runner a 1991 Jaguar XJ40.

Also have a 1964 Daimler 2.5V8 bought cheap and rusty and took 2 years of most of my spare time to rebuild.
