ZetecVan 2.0 Posted March 17, 2008 Report Posted March 17, 2008 Thursday night, I pop over to Keighley pick up an escort front crossmember, struts, discs, TCAs, rack and anti-roll bar that I'd won off ebay for a paltry £9.99 It stays in my van all weekend while I'm in Amsterdam. This morning, I unloaded it from the van and leave on the drive whilst I drop it off at the gearbox place. My wife comes down and picks me up. Get back, and it's not there. Now, it's a heavy thing, so it hasn't just blown away. I look all around, just in case someone has decided to walk off with it, and then got fed up after a few metres (all the time shouting 'bastards' and 'fooking bastards'). I'd been gone an hour. Then I remember. As I was pulling out of my street, I'd noticed a horse and cart further up the main road. I just glanced at it, but not taken any notice, because there are lots of horses and traps round here. I said to Sharon 'Thieving pikey bastards. I'm off to find them' and jump in my car and drive off. As look would have it, who is coming back up the main road. That horse and cart. I stop the car in front of them, get out and say (or rather shout) to the one leading the horse "I believe you have something that doesn't belong to you" and spot it on the back of the cart. "Oh I'm sorry, I thought it was scrap" he said "I was knocking for ages and no one replied". "So you thought you'd just take it then?"..... Anyhoo, he apologised and brought it back home. W@nker.

ASBO CAPRI Posted March 17, 2008 Report Posted March 17, 2008 That nearly happened to me too. I had a capri axle in my front garden for about a week. Had a knock at the door and theres a fella there. He was asking if he could take the axle away for scrap and even offered me a fiver for it. lol. I kindly told him it was worth a little more than a fiver, but i get the impression that had i not answered the door it would of gone walk about. As it happens i sold the axle to someone on this site who needed it a bit more than the scrap man.
X-pack-Glyn Posted March 17, 2008 Report Posted March 17, 2008 Well i wish they would come up my road, ive got a 1600 crossflow runner, lightened flywheel complete with twin choke sat on my drive that was gona be collected by some time waster about a month ago... if they take it they can have it! on a serious note i regard my house and yard as a fortress, trouble is some people come round and work with the fortress gates open (you know who you are), leaving everyone to look in and have a good old gawp (which believe me they do) at all my stock. only a few weeks ago i was working on a fork truck and had to remove the forks, believe me id only had my back turned for no more than 2-3 mins and the forks vanished....gone

Last year when it was blowing a gale it decided to detach itself from the porch it was attached to & was hanging down. Rather than risk it falling off & impaling someone we pulled it off & threw it in our front garden. Didn't pay any attention but noticed a couple of weeks ago that some pikey f*cker has walked past the house, spotted it in the front garden & had it away! May even have been the binmen!!
Muttley MK2 Posted March 17, 2008 Report Posted March 17, 2008 Theres a lesson here for all, with scrap topping 120quid a ton dont leave anything metal lying around unless you dont want to keep it! At work I have at least 5 or 6 pikeys vying for scrap from the units. I dont give any away cos I weigh it in myself but if I leave the unit for more than 10 seconds I have to lock the door!! Even the old batteries I use to prop open the doors go walkies if I leave them out

And according to research my sister has been doing, into our family tree, our great great great grandfather was an Irish rag and bone man, so I've probably got pikey blood....
