doyle Posted April 13, 2008 Report Posted April 13, 2008 I have an option-I have most of the parts to make a beastly 2.0 pinto-stage 3 head,rl32 cam, twin 40s, forged pistons, stage 1 clutch etc 170bhp if I'm lucky or i can convert to 2.9 24V 210bhp out of the box
Seals2 Posted April 13, 2008 Report Posted April 13, 2008 mate the pinto will feel better. it maybe a small boat anchor but at least its not the qe2's anchor ie 24v
lee_capri Posted April 13, 2008 Report Posted April 13, 2008 go for a v8 id say keep the pinto has would be has good has cossy and no messing about
Admin Vista Posted April 13, 2008 Admin Report Posted April 13, 2008 I'm not really sure I understand the yes / no vote options, yes/no to what? Ordinarily I'm a Pinto man, but the capri engine bay is cavernous and really needs to be filled. I'm not sold on heavy Yank V8's and without big bucks spent the rover V8 is a bit of a lazy lump so for what it's worth I reckon the Cossie V6 is a good compromise
Guest MK1gaz Posted April 13, 2008 Report Posted April 13, 2008 Yes capri's need "V's" but not V6's , they need V8's man
bortaf Posted April 13, 2008 Report Posted April 13, 2008 Pinto if you wanna go round corners 24V if you want some form of fuel efficiency AND don't have a right foot made of dark matter (denser/heavyer than a lead foot)
oldbus Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 If you´re not going to drop a V8 in it i´d definately go for the 24V. Not for racing but good on the road and a cheap 200BHP
brettp Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 i have had pinto v6 and v8 capris v8 wins buy a very long way that said 24v cossie lumps are very good as standard
4parajon Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 cossie V6 gets my vote, I would'nt have a pinto in my capri again, the cars too big IMO.
SmokeEm Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 Cossie V6 for me - You'd be pushed to see 170bhp from a pair of 40's
Gibson Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 V6 all day everyday. had both now and the V6 is definitly the lump of choice, suits the capri better! and also the V6 noise is just heavenly, only better engine for a capri is a V8
pauln Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 Go for the engine that is already making the power the 24v. Reckon the economy will be about the same as a tuned pinto on carbs.
