surfingturnip Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 ...browsing the interweb, more specifically wheel-whores.com I came across these... look quite pimp imo. then you see the tyres that have been fitted to them....
Burns Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 looks like stretching as seen on retro rides
Copey Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 hate how the v-dub lads stretch tyres, looks bloody stupid!
Trevmk3 Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 sometime the tyre stretching doesnt look to bad but that takes the biscuit, and its on a mk2 golf
bmxdave Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 Those wheels are swish, but wasted on that car. I like a bit of stretch, but nothing silly. Theres just no need or benefit to that. When you start modifying your car, and theres no benefit at all to what you actually do, other then showing a few people on the interweb that your tyres dont fit properly, then you need to step back, consider whether you should be allowed a car, and decide if getting the bus is a better option.
Von Loxlee Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 that is maybe a bit too much.... but stretch is cool
emu Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 Maybe its just me, but that doesnt look cool at all. What it looks like is he is trying to say "Look at my really wide wheels that cost me a fortune , Such a large fortune in fact that I cant afford any tires wider than 135's "

geoffersmasher Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 i like this im afraid always been a fan of german motors and streched rubber though it should be a mk1 golf
surfingturnip Posted April 14, 2008 Author Report Posted April 14, 2008 i like this im afraid always been a fan of german motors and streched rubber though it should be a mk1 golf dont get me wrong geoffers, I like the german motors and the old skool v dub scene and all. but surely stretching tyres to that extent is a safety issue if nothing else. I can also admit to liking the stretched tyre look but not to that extent and more on drift cars. I just think he's gone a bit overboard is all.
Admin Vista Posted April 15, 2008 Admin Report Posted April 15, 2008 I'd say that was very dangerous, so much so that if someone offered me a lift in that then I'd catch a cab instead! Stretched rubber = overloaded and overheated sidewalls = nasty blowout at speed!

richie_stix Posted April 15, 2008 Report Posted April 15, 2008 I'm quite a fan of a wee bit of stretching but that looks shit... stretching can be an easier way to deal with minor rubbing issue with the tyre aswel!
Von Loxlee Posted April 15, 2008 Report Posted April 15, 2008 does he say how the cars going to be used though? if its a trailer queen then hes probably just doing it for the sake of it, always trying to be that bit more stretched than the next person kind of reasoning. same as anything like that, such as lowrider bikes on roofracks and stuff, purely there for the most outlandish thing award and taken off or down when the car gets driven anywhere.... show wheels perhaps?
surfingturnip Posted April 15, 2008 Author Report Posted April 15, 2008 he goes on about making it road legal and all so I assume road car. This is the origional thread; http://www.wheel-whores.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2160 its a good site actually with some rather tasty wheels on
Gonzo Posted April 15, 2008 Report Posted April 15, 2008 That just looks complete w*nk. Needs to give the rims to someone who'll fit some decent rubber on 'em and then buy some sensible [read narrow] wheels for his pencil tyres.
