Haynesmanual Posted April 25, 2008 Report Posted April 25, 2008 I had one kick back once, took the skin off the side of my nose! Now i always have a guard on!
greenfordpop Posted April 25, 2008 Author Report Posted April 25, 2008 Did you have the guard on? I took it off the day before, as i was cutting the floor pan of my car on the inside and had very little space I`ve put it back on now LOL greenfordpop AKA Barry
hellblue Posted April 25, 2008 Report Posted April 25, 2008 A lad where i worked got half way through his finger with the guard ON & he had nearly 3 months off work over it

lee_capri Posted April 26, 2008 Report Posted April 26, 2008 ouch i no that felling,i have a nice grove from a thin disc on my left handjust over a inch long
X FLOW EDDY Posted April 26, 2008 Report Posted April 26, 2008 Thats nasty barry !! I had a 9 inch grinder with a polishing disc take a piece of flesh the size of my little finger cleen out of my left leg a few months ago !!! Not a prity sight
Mk1-Maher Posted April 26, 2008 Report Posted April 26, 2008 had a bad shake on a roof once when i was about 19 with a 9" grinder cutting out the channel for lead flashings (sent up as the boy) Thing kicked back and sent me back half way down the bloody roof dont realise how powerful those things are until summit goes wrong
Deano1351 Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 I was using a 9 inch grinder with a cutting disc on it but i was using it to flatten the weld off a steel beam, i was pushing too hard and the centre of the disc broke from the nut and spun into my stomach, my first thoughts were my intestines would be hanging out but luckily i had a few layers on coz it was cold so i just had a bit of a bruise, lesson from that one, dont use cutting discs to grind
ZetecVan 2.0 Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 Similar thing happened to me cutting out a floorpan with a 9inch one I'd hired. It had the guard on, but somehow kicked back and just took the skin off the side of my hand. That was through gloves too.
