RFChris Posted September 10, 2006 Report Posted September 10, 2006 So, the Capri has gone. This sad, and i miss it lots. I didn;t get rid of it through boredom, i got rid because i need something safe for my much-loved growing family. Now, i'm not a rich man by any stretch so i was limited. So, i bought the Vitesse. All has gone well so far. I have clocked up just over 1000 miles in a week and it was running fine. The fan had slight issues but i could cope with that. This morninhg though, i went out of the house to find my poor car sat in a puccle of its own liquid. On further investigation i found that its pissing water out. I thought it was the water pump at first but i have bees assured (by a mechanic mate) that its more likeley to be a crack or a blown gasket. Also, when i hold my hand on the header tank i can feel suction. Yay...that'll be an iminent head gasket. Not happy at all. All i wanted to do was look after the best interests of my family. I fooking hate Sod and i hate his law even more. Freshley valeted yesterday, looking good indeed..... Watch this though and you'll see my problem.... I have decided though, that i'm gonna pick up the black MKIII and get it mot'd. The last Capri never let me down so i can only hope the next one will be the same. Heres hoping..... Oh...and it;s to early to joke about it yet. I'm really fooking annoyed/upset.
perry Posted September 10, 2006 Report Posted September 10, 2006 its never too early to joke about it it is a rover after all it done it because its scared of being sold so wernt capris safe in the 70s then im sure most of us have spent our childhood in the back seat of various old fords , were here to tell the tale

Admin Vista Posted September 10, 2006 Admin Report Posted September 10, 2006 Sorry to hear that mate but if it makes you feel better i lost my Dads car Mk2 Xpack to an unscrupilous garage owner and lost £000s in the process So i feel for you mate Still it was a rover so it was bound to happen ! Sorry bud. Next one looks good though Does this mean you're not getting it back then Doc? How's it going through the courts? Sorry to hear the bad news on the Rover. My tip for a cheapish safe & reliable run around, would be a Pug 406 Hdi. I've just picked up a top of the range model and on a W plate so not that old, I can't believe how cheaply they go when a similar spec'd Mondeo would be £1000 more. Exciting it aint but being the executive model it has every extra you could imagine, electric everything, Cd changer, airbags on top of airbags, stacks of space, and still does over 40mpg with spirited driving. I'm not generally a fan of French cars, but this one seems excellent, now I can retire the Escort for the winter at the end of the month.
