Remember I bought a corsair off ebay for a bargain £107.

Here it is:

It was in a scrapyard and Mk3Cokebottle was selling it on behalf of the scrapyard owner.

I wasn't able to go down straight away after Aldershot is 220 miles away from Bradford. I had to organise a trailer, and get someone with a towbar to drive. Then I had things like weddings getting in the way of collecting it. We organised a date (today) for me to collect it.

So, I borrowed a trailer, and a mate from work said he'd drive the 220 miles (each way) to help me collect it. He just needed to get a towbar fitted. That was done on Monday.

I PM'd Mk3CokeBottle I was coming down on Saturday and he told the scrapyard owner I was coming.

Thursday night we drove the 30 miles (each way) to Selby to pick up the trailer.

This morning at 4.30am I was up ready to set off at 5am. We drove the 220 miles (did I tell you how far it was?) to Aldershot.

So, at 9.15 we get there.

We loaded it up onto the trailer and set off back.

Here it is at Toddington services on the way back.

Isn't she a beaut. I can't wait to get started.

We drove the 220 miles back home (yes, it's a long way isn't it). I couldn't keep my eyes off the trailer. I really hoped we wouldn't damage her.

Doesn't she look good in the rear view mirror?

Kevin, my workmate who kindly drove, said we shouldn't have brought Jack with us. He just sat in the back saying 'Are we there yet?'

We made it there and back on a tankful - finally at 3pm after TEN HOURS on the road.

But look at the price of diesel

Sixty pounds did it!

Oh, and I bought kev his lunch and breakfast too.

So, to recap. We set off at 5am. Drove 220 miles there. 255 miles back (because we drove to Selby to drop the trailer off). Arrived back at 3pm. Spent £60 on fuel and £20 on food.

You may be wondering where the Corsair is. Well, this is what it probably looks like at the moment.

This is because Billy, at the scrapyard took it onto himself to scrap the rather straight and solid Corsair bodyshell that I had bought, without telling anyone.

Thus, myself and Kev have wasted 10 hours apiece today driving 475 miles to be told 'The car you have bought has been scrapped'. I am also £80 out of pocket. It could have been a lot more because I had priced up getting someone to collect and deliver it. I'd priced up hiring a trailer. I'd priced up hiring a transit to pull the trailer.

So to say I am pissed off is an understatement.

Oh, yes. I'd also purchased a mint Corsair interior, and a couple of other bits and pieces for it, so make that £80 that I mentioned earlier, £180.

The moral of this story is make sure that before you travel 220 miles to collect a car you have bought, make sure that some tinker lol hasn't scrapped it.

On the positive side, I did find a penny at Toddington services.

As Chris says above, he's as gutted as me about it. I don't blame him at all for what has happened. We've been in touch often over the last couple of weeks about collecting the car and quite a few times today. He's done everything right as far as I'm concerned, so don't think he's a time waster.

It's the guy at the scrapyard who's to blame. Chris is doing his utmost to get remedy the situation.
