johnny_h Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 You have a mid size OSF and you can pick a professionaly built N/A HOT engine to drop in it. For example an AX block all steel 1800 X-Flow to a full on Cosworth built Duratec. Money no object but you have to choose from one from the list. You can't choose one engine and then ebay it to buy another one and get some change. You have to choose one to keep. What's it gonna be?
young un Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 I voted crossflow because thats what we have lined up for the mex but if i had an anglia i would have voted pre-crossflow - - ill have an anglia soon i hope
Admin Vista Posted May 14, 2008 Admin Report Posted May 14, 2008 It depends what car I'm putting it into really, I like to pay lip service to originality and it's great fun blowing modern cars into the weeds with an old skool engine (There's no BD engine option Johnny!) so if I were fitting it to an otherwise original looking Mex or RS2 then I'd go for a big power X-flow or Pinto (as appropriate for the chosen weapon) BUT as I've already done the above if I was to build another car up from a base model 2 door then I'd choose the most modern engine on your list as given the unlimited budget that you speak of I suspect that nothing else would match a Duratec built by the right person.
5hane Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 i voted for xflow. if its a sport/ rs keep the original engin in it. but if it has a pinto, ild go for cossy, its based on a pinto would like one of them 1800 xflows

I didn't put the BD variants in the poll because they're a bit too exotic and could steal many votes!
bullittcraig Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 love the crossflows but cossie gets my vote, but if money wasn`t an issue i would have to drop a blown v8 in it.
Hunter T Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 Can some people lend me their cars so I can try all the different engine types I dont want to appear biased to one car just because I have driven pintos and a standard xflow Just PM me if you wanna donate a car for a day for "research" purposes

Noodles Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 Boat Anchor, I want a engine with its own gravitational pull!
Liam. Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 i voted xflow, as i have never had a good pinto! i have had 2 on the road and they have both fell apart quick! and one in a hotrod that also broke. had a 1660 xflow on 40s in a starlet once and was pure heaven! sayin that my new pinto should be running by the weekend... fingers crossed... im due a good one
Rich Sav Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 X-Flow because simple light and powerful what else do u want
Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 Boat Anchor, I want a engine with its own gravitational pull! FPMSL That cheered me up a tad Hhhhmmmm, touchy subject for Jim this. I wished I hadn't listened to everyone (My Dad & Mates) when I said I wanted to Zetec my Anglia... of which the reply was "No you can't chop it about, it's to good for that". Should have bloody done it... King pre crossflow crap! Mind you, I am getting a nice collection of iron to run in... might make a few quid if I take it all down in the Anglia I do like a Zetec, but I do love my German V6's as well.
mossy Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 well ive had 2crap crossflows and always wanted an N/A Cossie on 45's! wouldnt mind one of those SBD duratecs though!
Stu_B Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 Pre crossflow, cos mine sounds the nuts on twin 40's... also just look at Toby's Can't beat a bit of oldskool design in an oldskool car kickin' out the ponies
