PaulAshman Posted September 10, 2006 Report Posted September 10, 2006 Just stripped out the floor in my mk2 today ready to rub down and paint. Driving to the take away in my flip flops. Took left one off and nearly burn my heel off on the floor, aargh!!! Turns out just below floor by clutch is where exhaust splits one into two so that is obviously hot and so heats up the floor. How can I reduce the heat of the floor in the car? Cheers, Paul.
Admin Vista Posted September 10, 2006 Admin Report Posted September 10, 2006 Stick some heat bandage or manifold wrap around the exhaust where it's near the floor
Pipster007 Posted September 10, 2006 Report Posted September 10, 2006 Don't wear flip flops when driving

PaulAshman Posted September 10, 2006 Author Report Posted September 10, 2006 I took mine off and left it off, looks a lot better. Stripped out floor looks pretty cool, especially when I get my bucket seats. Shame you do not klive nearer I could have helped you with the leak.
ZetecVan 2.0 Posted September 10, 2006 Report Posted September 10, 2006 Talking to Paul at Tony Law Exhausts after he fitted mine last week, as I suffer from the same problem. Luckily it's the passenger floor that gets hot. He said don't use exhaust wrap unless you're wrapping stainless steel. He said the best thing would be the reflective sheet stuck to the underside of the floor.
antz Posted September 10, 2006 Report Posted September 10, 2006 cheers. ill have a look at it tomorow if i can. last time i had a lake in my floor pan which even ran into my rear floorpan it was that bad i think some of it was the radio aerial but now thats fine im still getting water. thanks for the advice paul! its a big help!
