antz Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 look at z cars... stick a hayabusa engine in the ack of a mini converted to RWD and you have a serious car.. they out drag ferraries.. no shit! look em up! They haven't stuck an engine in the back of a mini! They have built a rear engined spaceframe and put a mini shaped lfibreglass lid on it. Bit of a difference. I know of a mini converted to RWD with a hayabusa engine in it. Its lethal
Fiesta Steve Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 Opel manta or how about vauxhall chevette then drop in a hot pinto. He is RWDing a Fiesta m8, wants a rwd car as a doner.

Bit of a difference. its built into a spaceframe or a rear cage, steel body or fibreglass body they all go like stink (busa's/R1's/vtecs) and are bloody nifty on the track

I know of a mini converted to RWD with a hayabusa engine in it. Its lethal the old trick was to stick another front subframe in the back with the engine (or another engine) in the back, no too hard to do, they did twin engined minis in the 60s.

mr shag Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 talbot sunbeam ti i think im right in saying same wheel stud pattern as ford thay also came with twin 40s standard?

petrolhead01 Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 20valve 1.8 turbo passats came in rwd, very tunable engine. since when? they're front weel drive. not all of them!! there was a guy at the ace cafe last summer with one!! quite quick too!!! proper sleeper!!
spitbarnatt Posted June 19, 2008 Report Posted June 19, 2008 20valve 1.8 turbo passats came in rwd, very tunable engine. since when? they're front weel drive. Maybe it's in the A4 then, that engine was definately longditudinally mounted in something!
V6MAT Posted June 19, 2008 Report Posted June 19, 2008 how about stay oldskool ford and somit like a taunus i know where one mite be for sale
john_3.0s Posted June 19, 2008 Report Posted June 19, 2008 if your going to rwd it you may as well go the whole hog and make it IRS. How about a sierra? central diff, get the drive shafts shortened to what ever lenght you need and use the sierra rear suspension. Why not have a look at some kit cars out there? a fair few of them use sierra irs set-ups - may give u a feel of how much work is needed too
Fiesta Steve Posted June 19, 2008 Report Posted June 19, 2008 how about stay oldskool ford and somit like a taunus i know where one mite be for sale Are you suggesting chopping up the Taunus to make a Fiesta RWD ???

VAG desided it would be a good ide to mount the engines as far front as you can and make it FWD. it looks RWD but its a gay FWD car

This would have been it, so I knew that engine was available in RWD format. A friend of mine had an Ibiza Cupra with about 300bhp (claimed) and that flew!
hotrodholty Posted June 20, 2008 Report Posted June 20, 2008 old 3 series beemer, well built and bullet proof. irs and lsd aswell

Sorry boys that pic is of a front wheel drive car audi's and vw's mounted the engine like that for weight transfer but it was shocking under 100 mph it understeer's like mad i had a a4 and have worked on loads of these motors. The gear box is mounted longways and has the drive shaft mounting on the side ment the engine weight is kept in front of the wheels, it's a good gearbox for using in a midengined kit car.
