mk2dk Posted June 23, 2008 Report Posted June 23, 2008 I was at a party a couple of weeks ago, and of cause a lot of the conversation was regarding old cars. A guy told me that he had seen an Escort sitting in a garage for years, covered in dust. He said that if I was into Escorts, I should go there and knock on the door, asking the owner if he would sell. Next day I went to the adress and found the Escort, with only the back visible through the gate. Unfortunately the owner did'nt live in the house, but I got his number and rang him. He was a little surprised and said he would consider and give me a ring in a weeks time. Today he rang back and told me it originally belonged to his father, but he passed away some years ago. We arranged to meet this Wednesday It's a silver mk2 2 door, and I'm trying not to have to high expectations. Pics will come wednesday

It's a one owners car and I talked to the old lady who bought it from new. Since her husband passed away, she just left the car in the garage because she did'nt renew her drivers licence. She remembered how people looked at it when it was new, because it was so beautiful in silver paint and black vinylroof Her son told us it was best on the motorway, because the 1.3 crossflow felt more alive at higher rpm She was mine if I would take her... So I did Despite some very rusty places... and 4 flat tyres Interior is fine - seats are as good as new (under the ugly covers, that is Inner wings and strut tops, looks ok The dog already loves the car... Refuses to get out of it

It's very rusty in some places, but I have some spare body panels from my other Escort project. The owner told me they where going to call a scrapyard later this week, and pay them to get rid of it
