johnny_h Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 Trying to be a bit enviromentaly freindly I used one of the councils special blue recycling bags last week to get rid of a load of old paper and card. It was never picked up and is still sitting there now. Today, some cock from the council in a pink shirt and tie comes round and tells me I am facing a £110 fine for putting my rubbish out early!
4parajon Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 Our council puts a sticker on our bins which indicates when they will collect the special blue bins, works quite well for us.
Admin Mk2Jo Posted June 24, 2008 Admin Report Posted June 24, 2008 Our rubbish is alternate ... one week normal rubbish, the next week recycle bin rubbish and once a month is glass recycle collections. Can't believe what they said to you though Johnny - feckin knobbers
johnny_h Posted June 24, 2008 Author Report Posted June 24, 2008 I was only trying to do my bit. I won't bother in future. Stick it all in the black sacks.
FredTransit Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 Typical. I bet there was some tiny bit of plastic and the jobsworths wont' pick it up as recycling.
Admin Vista Posted June 24, 2008 Admin Report Posted June 24, 2008 We get normal rubbish collections every week and recycling (including glass, paper, cans, cardboard and even clothes / fabrics) every fortnight. TBH whilst I think Johnny is being penalised unfairly I do support penalties for putting rubbish out too early. I see bins going out on Wednesday night / Thursday morning occasionally round here. By the time it's collected on Friday morning there's rubbish and food waste everywhere as the foxes / cats / gulls have been at the bags.

We keep household rubbish out the back of the house until the night before collection day for that very reason. Instead of food and rubbish being all over the road it's strewn all over our garden instead. and no, there was no plastic in the bag. I pre empted that problem! It was all cardboard and old car mags. We're not being fined, just warned. the slip of paper he gave me says something about no legal action is being taken right now.
Posse Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 Fooking madness just set fire to the lot johhny
bigglesmk2 Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 Im a binman and im not going to reply to this thread or draw attention to myself. Oh fook
tim Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 might be a silly question but was it the right week for that collection?
johnny_h Posted June 24, 2008 Author Report Posted June 24, 2008 It's a weekly collection according to the paperwork I have.
ZetecVan 2.0 Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 That is shit, Johnny.... Our bins live outside our fence, so we'd be find for permanently having the rubbish out.... And why oh why don't the lazy arsed bin men put the bins back where they found them instead of leaving them all over the place, and at the end of my drive WHEN I'M SAT IN THE VAN REVERSING DOWN IT.... Cocks the lot of them. (no offence Biggles....)
Smudger105e Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 We religiously put all our plastic, paper and cardboard in a green bag for the Council to collect, and the glass kept separate (as we have been told to). When the men come to collect, it all goes in the same wheelie bin and then into the same lorry! wtf?
bigglesmk2 Posted June 25, 2008 Report Posted June 25, 2008 (no offence Biggles....) Non taken. I do have to work with some propper retards i can tell ya,but hey thats who the job attracts. In my defense,i am the driver and could go drive any other lorry on the road,i choose a sh!tty bin wagon because i get paid a stupidly high amount for it.
sporty-corty16v Posted June 25, 2008 Report Posted June 25, 2008 our rubbish is a joke, we spend our time seperating recycables into orange bags and generall rubbish in another, then they come round and shove it all in the back of the same lorry and squash it together ffs
johnny_h Posted June 25, 2008 Author Report Posted June 25, 2008 They came today! Two different wagons collected two different bags.
FredTransit Posted June 25, 2008 Report Posted June 25, 2008 Well that's environmentally friendly isn't it? Hope they were both running on veg.....
