For the MOT, can i just have the Chassis number stamped in a visible place and it'll be ok?? just on a bit of alloy riveted somewhere?

do they even check.? if they ask tell them its restored and chasis number is long gone

As far as i can make out, cars before 1980 dont even bloody need one!!

thats stupid. what about any escort that has had strut stops on it?...stupid bloody idea.

 

i dont think it needs to be easily visible. on mk4 escort i think its under the interior carpet by the drivers seat :?

there has to be a vin on it somewhere otherwise anyone could get an MOT on a car and just swap the num plates over....of course in reality its not difficult to move a chassis plate on one of these old cars.

 

The mot er will check the vin as he needs the number to input into the magical (and very slow) 'puter systm they have to use now days :roll:
