SmokeEm Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 I feel your pain mate. I've been paying £600 a month for the last 10 years to my ex for my only daughter. However, she moved in with me 3 months ago & guess what - my ex doesn't have to pay me a fookin penny
Admin Vista Posted July 23, 2008 Admin Report Posted July 23, 2008 However, she moved in with me 3 months ago & guess what - my ex doesn't have to pay me a fookin penny Why not??
FredTransit Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 Yeah why not? I thought the CSA was to recover payments for parents not just mothers.
SmokeEm Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 Because of the last law change. Under the old system, the CSA could use ALL income, including any income from their new partner to calculate how much you pay. The new system cancels that out & they only use the parents income (15% of nett earnings for 1 child) and so she refuses to work until my angel is 16. Lazy bitch
Fishtailparka Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 It might sound daft, but if any of you are paying the CSA and your kids move in with you, make sure you claim child allowance/ benifit whatever it is called. I didn't bother and ended up having to pay the CSA for when my kid was living with me. How f**ked up is that? If I had claimed the allowance it would count as prooof he lived with me.
X-pack-Glyn Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 The bottom line is they are just a bunch of men haters. they aint interested if your ex has a job and her own house, but if your ex claims benefits you are used to balance the books... i wasted years of my life looking into this and playing all the loopholes there used to be, now im mortgaged to the hilt and still have to pay on the new system, coming close at times to loosing my house.
m1c Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 my ex has a full time job, got married to someone who's also got a full time job and I still pay the same as when she was single and part time. fookin cow.
FredTransit Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 I don't get it. If you don't have to pay alimony if your wife re marries, why do you have to keep paying child support? It's like you keep paying the road tax after you sell the car!
Admin Vista Posted July 23, 2008 Admin Report Posted July 23, 2008 I don't get it. If you don't have to pay alimony if your wife re marries, why do you have to keep paying child support? It's like you keep paying the road tax after you sell the car! You keep having to pay Child support because you have have a financial duty to help support your child. The key word here however is help, I don't see why your payments aren't reduced accordingly if she's earning now when she wasn't before.
FredTransit Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 Fair point, but still not fair practice. If your ex wife has another child with the new husband, you don't have to pay for that (do you? Just checking), so if your child is as good as supported by a 'new' dad why pay at all?

I've never come across a 6 year old that NEEDS nearly £200 a month to spend on, nor does it help me finance my wife + 2 daughters. nor can I understand why I only get something like a £20 deduction per daughter off the £200... surely if they work out £200 a child, someone should give me £200 to even it out? or is that what the £21 per week family credit is for. gee, thanks.
Mr.Sumo Posted July 24, 2008 Author Report Posted July 24, 2008 Fair point, but still not fair practice. If your ex wife has another child with the new husband, you don't have to pay for that (do you? Just checking), so if your child is as good as supported by a 'new' dad why pay at all? See , now there lies the BIG question . My ex HAS a new fella ...AND has a kid with him , but i only pay for mine . However , i did find out by default , even though he lives with her and is marrying her in October...shes claiming CSA off him because she gets more money....and he KNOWS ABOUT IT !!!!!!!! As long as she ( the ex...) claims child BENEFIT , she can claim for Child Support from CSA . If they stop claiming Child Benefit the only reason would be because the child in question has left full time education or has a job . Thats when you stop paying the CSA , unless you have acrued arrears...... And as a foot note , not all of your CSA payment goes to the Child in question , a % goes to other kids whose parents are not found / supporting / paying the CSA etc etc.......and the worst culprits according to the CSA....absent MOTHERS .
X-pack-Glyn Posted July 24, 2008 Report Posted July 24, 2008 Ahhhhhh, BUT our wonderfull ex beloveds arent accountable for HOW its spent ... i asked for reciepts to see what sort of maintenence the money was going on, of course i never got em... i would have thought a monthy reciept for a 3 year purchase plan on a 07 vectra VXR was'nt too much to ask really do you
