I think that if the CSA had ever done what I believe it's original mandate was (i.e. chase up absent parents of both genders who aren't contributing at all) then it would actually be an organisation worthy of respect, after all I'm sure everyone agrees that it's only right and proper that both parents should help with the financial side of raising their children whether the parents are still together or not. Some years ago I was dating a girl who worked for the CSA and she said that frequently it's the absent MOTHERS who are in fact the ones hardest to raise money from and also the ones they get the most stick over the phone from.

Instead however all I ever see or hear about is people who are already contributing being screwed over and forced to increase their payments to more than they can afford. The CSA was never meant to be a weapon for people to use against their former partners, but it seems to me that it's increasingly used that way.

In the interests of a balanced thread, can anyone post up any cases where they think the CSA have got it right?

I don't know if it is still the case, but, at one time if they failed to make an assessment within 6 months you could not be held responsible for any back payments before that.

You need to look into it a bit more as I am not sure if that has changed.

Don't expect any sensible answers from them though. They are the most impossible people on Earth to deal with.

Another thing to mention is that they used to be obliged to accept any reasonable contribution towards what you owe in back pay. I offered £5 a month and they had to accept it. It means I wouldn't have paid it off for 20 years or more. In fact I never did.

My son lives with me now anyway :)

just in case you hadn't realised the Child Support Agency is supposed to recover financial contributions from absent parents. As Vista said if they did what they originally were supposed to do it would be fine. Mostly they just cause aggro and hardship for the ones they can find, and let the ones they can't find (or are on the dole) off scot free.

Cheeky fookin Bitch !

Thought i would double check this demand the CSA sent me , so me Julie did a bit of investigating on my behalf , and guess what.....

the cheeky cow has been claiming that my eldest 2 kids where at school still .....mmm...not true , you see they both left school May 2007 :thumbsup:

Which means the soppy cow is now getting a vastly reduced payment because i will only be paying for 1 kid , HAPPY DAYS !:lol::lol:

With a bit of luck , the CSA will chew a couple of pounds of her for taking the p*ss as well.....oh to be fly on the wall when that phone call goes through
