mossy Posted July 22, 2008 Report Posted July 22, 2008 Im currently working at a college as a workshop technician in motor vehicle engineering. Not been here long, only 2months (but studied here as a student) and i love it! The boss came to me today and has asked me to apply for the lecturing vacancies that are going atm (4 of them!) I really dont know what to do, i dont know if im confident enough to stand in front of a class and teach, Plus i know i dont know some of the stuff that im gonna need to know. It will be a lot of work on my part, but then there are benifits eg haveing a cert ed qualification, more money, better pension. But i dont wanna start it and find im not cut out for it and loose what ive got now, Or not to take it up and regret it in a year or so's time! Argh..........O and i have till friday!
Admin Vista Posted July 22, 2008 Admin Report Posted July 22, 2008 Take the job, employers watch people closely so if he thinks you're capable of it then you probably are. Confidence is something you'll build up given a little time in the job and nothing that's worth having comes without having to work for it anyway. Best of luck
antz Posted July 22, 2008 Report Posted July 22, 2008 if your boss thinks your ready then go for it. worst that can happen is you wont get it
sambo Posted July 22, 2008 Report Posted July 22, 2008 Do it mate, Getting that job will be a great career move! you dont want to be the assistant for ever do ya? You'll regret it if you dont and you'll wonder "what if" in a few years.
cisco24uk Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 Ask if you can do it on a trial basis. I'm sure there is a basic criteria that the course has to follow and most of the stuff is learnt by doing or from hand outs so it shouldn't be to difficult. You will only kick yourself later on if you don't try.
oldbus Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 Go for it mate, you´ll kick yourself if you don´t! Good luck!!
MightySprocket Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 do it! you could end up looking back and wondering 'what if?'
pauln Posted July 23, 2008 Report Posted July 23, 2008 Do it, you will never know what you can achieve unless you just go for it.
