livewire7116 Posted August 4, 2008 Report Posted August 4, 2008 I think they call it an occupational hazard, if your going to race your car in anyway what so ever you have to be prepared for the repair bill if it all goes tits up. Dont get me wrong i do feel for the guy but he knew the risks, you can be the best driver in the world but shit happens
sambo Posted August 4, 2008 Report Posted August 4, 2008 Oucheewoowar!! Poor bloke Like many have said, it'll be on the road again surely!?

Savvi Posted August 5, 2008 Report Posted August 5, 2008 Think he might need this ? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MK1-ESCORT-REAR-W ... dZViewItem
Guest chriscapriman Posted August 6, 2008 Report Posted August 6, 2008 saw it get red flagged, was watchin my mate in the gs escort and a few others in xr2's (the mk1 xr2 track car that ate its way thro all the cossies). glad to hear driver is ok, shame about the ezzy tho, was a nice one too. done my first bit of tracktime as driver and loved it, i took my 2.0 capri out first session of the day at 9am, it was slippy as fook cos it pissed down durin the nite (my tent stayed dry tho ). all the rwd cars on the session were goosed (bar a sierra 4i track car which was drifting) my capri was wheelspininng and snaking in 3rd up the straights and i had an 'off' on the first bend (understeerd straight off at about 70) luckily lots of runoff there, reigned it in after that and drove very slow in, tail happy(ish) out . is the reason i got an xr4x4 for track days , cudnt bring myself to give my capper death and actually kill it
over_head_cam Posted August 6, 2008 Report Posted August 6, 2008 Looks bad, but deffo fixable Glad the drivers OK, but he must be gutted
H.P.E harry Posted August 6, 2008 Report Posted August 6, 2008 think thats why i would be a bit paranoid about taking my car around the track.
Boreham Posted August 6, 2008 Report Posted August 6, 2008 Think he might need this ? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MK1-ESCORT-REAR-W ... dZViewItem bang on Savvi..... I really feel for the guy... but it could have been worse... if it got a o/s quarter and back panel....... might be able to salvage fron wing..... Hope the inner wing isn't damaged or pulled front the bulk head... agree with "Mightysprocket" make you think...
Boreham Posted August 6, 2008 Report Posted August 6, 2008 just noticed...no cage..... lucky it didn't roll
Mrp Posted August 6, 2008 Report Posted August 6, 2008 You pays your money you take yer chance.... If you want to go racing rallying ect its a risk you take. If your that worried stick to 1/4 mile where you cant get lost or confused by corners. The car will go again and the important thing is the guy was ok.. Nuff said.
over_head_cam Posted August 6, 2008 Report Posted August 6, 2008 That ¼ panel is still only 300 quid, must be worth more?
Johnson Posted August 6, 2008 Report Posted August 6, 2008 i saw it on the trailer after it had happened. and i really felt for the owner
T-MEX Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 SHITE!! that reminds me of when i put my 2.8 capri into a tyre wall at castle coombe at quary corner, i hit the tyre wall at about 60mph it pushed the whole front end over to one side, spun it round 180 degrees and smashed the rear quarter in for good measure, needless to say i had to reshell the car Good news was i ended up with a better looking car that was 2years younger as well, and it only cost me £50 more than the full respray i had planned for the car later that year
