If it's just under 4 turns then I guess it's either a 3.77 or a 3.89 but I'm not sure how many teeth either of those crownwheels have.

39 x 11 =3.54

34 x 9 = 3.7

35 x 9 =3.89

39 x 10 =3.9

37 x 9 = 4.11

33 x 9 = 4.125

40 x 9 = 4.44

How come my genuine ford 4.1 CWP set is stamped 8-33 then ? Have just been into the shed and double checked !!!

35 x 9 =3.89

39 x 10 =3.9

sorry to butt in, but would there be any noticable difference in drive between the above two ratio's and what would they have come out of?

No I doubt very much you'd notice it mate, it might make a few nanoseconds difference up the 1/4 mile though.

The man has a point, do the maths. 33 x 9 is actually 3.66:1. It should be 33 x 8 for 4.125:1

not really, but if you think if they both did 100 revolutions the 3.9 would be 1 whole turn ahead of the 3.89 and it doesn't take long to do 100 turns
