countrybumpkin Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 i went and bought this alf 2lt twin cam and 5 speed gearbox today mostly compleat with pair of twin 40's, it will look lovely when its all cleaned up and fitter in my escorts engine bay and all for the small sum of £150 i will put a beter pic up once i unload it from my van
Admin Vista Posted August 13, 2008 Admin Report Posted August 13, 2008 Very good Those twin cam alfa engines are cracking lumps and really produce the goods, cheap as chips too when you compare them to a BDA or Lotus twin cam. Where did you get it from in the end?
countrybumpkin Posted August 13, 2008 Author Report Posted August 13, 2008 it was in south molton but i found it advertised on ebay, it dose need a total rebuild but thats no problem as i dont like fitting untested engines
countrybumpkin Posted August 14, 2008 Author Report Posted August 14, 2008 i took some better phots of my new engine and box today, such a nice looking lump
Copey Posted August 14, 2008 Report Posted August 14, 2008 cool, what power are you hoping for? and how hard does it look to drop in?
countrybumpkin Posted August 14, 2008 Author Report Posted August 14, 2008 as standard its supossed to be 132 bhp but i'm hoping to get it closer to 200bhp, its length and hight are smaller than a pinto! i'll have to have a custom rad made not really a problem, the only dificult thing i can see is the gearbox is 8" shorter than a standard 4 speed so i might have to make remote linkage but its a small price to pay for a 5 speed box that i can pick up with one hand its so light
Copey Posted August 14, 2008 Report Posted August 14, 2008 wow, that is light, gonna fly when its all in
countrybumpkin Posted August 14, 2008 Author Report Posted August 14, 2008 wow, that is light, gonna fly when its all in yeah the hole lot is just moving the engine arround i would s that its not a great deal heaver than a crossflow definatly nowere near as heavy as a pinto, i hope its going to fly
