iv noticed that there seems so be a lot more osf crime happening now theye becoming more popular.

 

i was daydreaming at work yesterday and was thinking that maybe it would be a good idea to keep a log of where and when you spot them on the road. bit like trainspotting i guess.....

 

shall i continue....

 

then next time someone has one stolen theres a fair chance that someone will have spotted it maybe....

 

hmmm im doubting my own idea now theres just not enough of us

could just fit a modern tracking device

you wouldn't know anyway cos they're concealed- thats the point.

how do they work?

 

surely a good thief would find it and remove it

 

or do you hide it in a chasis rail or something

There are rumours that they are hidden in places like chassis rails etc. But, I have never fitted one, & I certainly have never stolen a car to find out!

 

I have taken quite a few modern cars apart when I was a fitter for a bodyshop, and have never found one!

My old neighbours Porche 911 was stolen off his drive about 2 years ago, & this is what happend!

 

House broken into keys for Porche were found, but they couldn't find the keys for the BMW X5, so they torched that on the drive, and made off in the Porsche! (They wanted the BMW as they are a big X5 stealing posse! But the Porsche must have been Christmas come early for them!)

 

My neighbour was obviously panic stricken & SHE phoned her boyfriend to tell him what happened. He called the Tracker people, and 10 minuites later, the Porsche was tracked doing 160 MPH down the A2 towards Kent!

 

The car was parked up for about three days in a quiet back street. (This is a test by the thiefs to see if it has a tracker!) But as it did, the police found it and recovered it back to their pound!

 

The poor old Porsche was in a massive state as the thiefs virtually stripped the car either for parts or to find the tracker. As it was a 52 reg, I assume they wanted to sell the whole car on, but they didn't get that far!

 

BTW, the BMW was torched so it could be cloned, which it was 2 weeks later

 

So, Trackers are exceptionally good, but I personally know of at least 2 cases that were never found!!

You're quite right, providing you spot the car has gone quickly and activate it, Trackers are top.

 

Unfortunately they're rendered largely useless by something as simple as an underground car park or a I believe even a shipping container, so if your car gets that far it's likely you'll not see it in one piece again (if at all)
