I really am heatbroken and dont know what to do :(

have you painted it recently? it sounds like it wasnt prepped/dried properly before painting, cant be the rain mate.
I painted it 3 months ago, it's looked great for 3 months and has just gone bad in the last week! what could cause it? I have sprayed a car before and this has not happened to it, was dry when sprayed and cleaned with pannel wipe

Sounds like the paint has reacted with something, what did you spray it with? Cellouse, 2 pack or water based paint?

Cellouse, but if it was going to react wouldn't it have done so when I did it 3 months ago?

Sorry to hear about yours I have the same with my Van.

A mate who does spraying said cellulose paint can do that some times and it's a reaction of some sorts ............................. he going to re paint mine when i have removed the side windows and replaced the rear doors with "proper paint" as he put it.

Think he called it "micro blisters" ?

did you drive the car about in primer??
nope just left it a day or two to dry

i just asked because i had trouble with a car when it was in primer for a while, sounds like a bare metal job and start fresh

that suck big time real sorry to hear that

dose sound like somthing has reaceted with the paint, i have had it happen with plastic parts like grill and things never seen it on metal though

i've googled it and apparantly it can be caused by very small bits of dirt or grit under the paint, it can stay under the paint for months, it soaks up moisture and blisters the paint. :( funny thing is the roof is fine as is most the boot and the bonnet! when prepping i used a tack cloth followed by pannel wipe, obviously that wasn;t enough.

I just cant work out why it was fine for 3 months and now in one week its gone like this, I know its been very wet but it really has come out of the blue.

wierd it happening so long afterwards mate and solid bubbles too :?

celly paint is quite unstable withour a 2 pack laquer over it and any kind of solvent could have caused it. i wouldnt say its moisture being so long after a repaint.

water and damp only usually react within a few hours of spraying and even that isnt like what youn describe

pics?

I will try and sort some pics out tomorrow, also gonna take it down the local body shop and see what they say about it

i took me capri to the local body shop and the gezza there says the blisters are caused by water from the spray gun, I did use a water trap/filter but obviously this wasn't good enough.

He said it needs to be rubbed back and then dryed then resprayed! He quoted me about 1000 to rub it back, dry it in the spray booth then respray it in 2pac. Does this sound reasonable?

They seem like good chaps and I have been down there a couple of times before to ask for advice and they are always happy to have the crack with me.

Of cause next problem is finding the money to get it fixed.

 Feel for ya mate. You'll get it sorted soon though mate. Maybe you could rub it down yourself and then give it to the body shop to re-paint it. It'll cost less?

hmm still wierd how it came out so long after the painting though. myabe the damp air has caused it to make an appearance

its a good idea to drain the fluid out of the compressor too before painting with it

will be a lot cheaper to prep it yourself and get them to spray it, at least you know its gonna be done in a nice dry environment
