DANIELSON Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 You will not be able to find a Sandblaster anymore? Sandblasting is no practised due to the health problems linked to the silica in sand. You can get parts shot blasted? Depending on what you need doing (he does not do large items such as chassis) try my old boss Dave at Abtec/ salvage Doctor based in Horsham. I do not have the number but just 118 it. Tell him Dan sent you.
Wessie Posted November 28, 2006 Author Report Posted November 28, 2006 i need my chassis doing depending on price - the whole car , hmm so shot blasting is the new sandblasted as such
Mark2Mark Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 yeah but it is a lot more harsh! If you shot blasted most shells there would be nowt left
Wessie Posted November 28, 2006 Author Report Posted November 28, 2006 thats not what i want to hear , basically theres so many layers of underseal, paint, stonechip underneath its taking my hours to scrape through it so i've got something decent to weld to , and i wouldnt mind having a look at the chassis properly and also the general state of the shell without any paint and filler
Mark2Mark Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 Get some heat a good scraper and some elbow grease on it mate
Wessie Posted November 28, 2006 Author Report Posted November 28, 2006 im on a tight timescale @ college, and health and safety regualtions are rediculous @ college. im starting to run out of enthusiasm with the amount of time its taken me to scrape some of the sh*t off the underside
bortaf Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 The only one i know is in essex/N london, have you tried a boat yard? they usually have a blaster for the boats
Mark2Mark Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 Or some sort of acid dipping maybe? it seems to be popular at the mo, not sure how much it costs though.
Twinkle Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 how about acid dipping i think thats what johnnyh had done to my shell before i got it http://www.oldskoolford.co.uk/phpBB2/vi ... hp?t=27828
allsteel Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 A family size pot of elbow grease is what you need. Your going to have to scrape that crud off by hand because a sandblaster wont touch it. The sand just bounces off it. Get scraping!!
Paul F Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 a guy did it for me for £250, which included picking the car up, blasting the whole thing (not bonnet, bootlid or doors though) and primered it...but this is in salisbury, which is a fair distance from you!
Wessie Posted November 28, 2006 Author Report Posted November 28, 2006 did that remove all of the underseal, stonechip etc fieldstvl?
Paul F Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 everything....all gone... here's an example
Wessie Posted November 28, 2006 Author Report Posted November 28, 2006 he doesnt own another company thats based in guildford does he ?
Wessie Posted November 29, 2006 Author Report Posted November 29, 2006 any body had experince of one of theses? are they any good? http://www.justoffbase.co.uk/Dual-Actio ... ory=160940
deluxemk1 Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 Hi wes Im simon one of the mad moomin racing lot in kent. You might of seen pics of me restoring jeffs (prefectopop) 100e in the restoration section. If you want shell blasting there is a firm in billingshurst that do plastic media blasting. This is what you want to sort your body shell. It strips everthing like shot but you can blast doors bonnets etc with it.The problem with shotblast isnt the grit its the kinetic energy and heat caused by the blast that destroys and destorts fragile body panels. They blasted a 100e new old stock door for me came out perfect its so gentle they blast fibreglass panels with it.Guide price prob bout 550 600 quid to do shell.Il do a google search for the number and post it.If you need any help or advice bout the paint and body just ask im not a million miles away from you simon (MAD MOOMIN RACING) ps the sandblaster youve seen would take bout 90 years to blast a shell dont bother mate!
