vibrating_Cake Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 I can understand the antagonism. I've not been stopped by the Police since I retired smashed up, but when I was working I got tugged 3 times, one guy was brilliant, I saw him tucked in a gate way at 3am as I shot past in a Senator with 3 numbers on the clock. When he caught up with me I was doing 60, I just got a bit of p*** taking and sent on my way. The other 2 times the guys that stopped me were complete a**holes. I was driving a partially restored Triumph 2000 that was primer and old paint. One got to the point of threatening to arrest me when I disagreed with the load of old pony he was giving me about various offences!!! I pulled out my Police test and inspect authorisatioin card and told him to bring it on. Then he got mad because I hadn't told him I was Old Bill when he stopped me!! It shouldn't have made any difference to the way I was spoken to. I put a word in his Inspectors ear about his attitude later that night. One bad copper gives every Cop a bad name, but trust me the good guys out number the bad. I would rather get stopped and checked than some little scrote get away with nicking my motor. good man!
Copey Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 Sorry if you think I'm being ungrateful, but in my opinion there are better things the police can be doing then lecturing ppl for not wearing a seatbelt, i mean how long has it been a law but some ppl still think they look cool without one. is this cool http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jlbC77GS0Ak hahaha, funny as!!
kevmk2 Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 Thats is a bit of a joke, my brother got done by a gatso for doing 33 in a 30mph the other day He is going to the training course thing so he doesnt get the points on his license, at a cost of £120
X-pack-Glyn Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 I havent been stopped by a copper in years....shame really as i do often like a bit of banter and a chat about the car, i also like to compare trunchions with the odd bobby... gona try to get stopped next weekend i think. you younguns got it easy, in the early 90s we used to get stopped around 5 times a week, me and mates used to play "who can get the most producers" every week.
Copey Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 i dont think the problem is being pulled over, its just sometimes police can be very rude, i have been pulled over a few times, for things like "extended loss of traction" and going sideways, most the time the coppers have been dead sound, had a laugh, got called a plonker by one copper, who said he would let me off because he had a capri when he was younger and did exactly the same thing, which was nice of him, now, i can understang gettin pulled over for that, and i know i shoulda got point probably, but i have been lucky, its just when cops pull you over for nout, then are dead short, narky and bad mannerd, gives a bad name to all coppers
vibrating_Cake Posted October 1, 2008 Report Posted October 1, 2008 you younguns got it easy, in the early 90s we used to get stopped around 5 times a week, me and mates used to play "who can get the most producers" every week. hahaha i remember the story my dad used to tell me after my brother broke free that i'd been dragging it down down with a couple of faster cars and going sideways, trying to get me into trouble. he just said, i used to do that when i was younger, its good fun, but be careful, in one night i got 5 producers. the first one was normal, so he carried on, the 2nd one pulled him up and my dad said "but i've already got a producer officer" so the copper says "well heres another one" after this my dad gave up on telling them till the 5th one copper pulls him up, writes the producer n my dad gets the 4 producers out of the glovebox and says, these are all from tonight. and the copper laughs and gives him it anyway lol! 5 producers in a night haha!!!
Dale Posted October 1, 2008 Report Posted October 1, 2008 ok i can see where your coming from. although where i was sitting wasn't outside a house. back to the stereo typing. a few months back, some lads thought it would be funny to hide behind the park gate with stones whilst one ran and pushed the button on the crossing... causing the lights to change red then they'd throw the stones at the cars. they got mine i now have 3 dents in my wing and two chips on the window! so as you do i went up the road a little pulled in and i rang the police. the police came.. told them to move on I then drove down to the police parked up behind them, before i had a chance to get out or even speak the officer came over and said we've had alot of trouble here tonight with you kids if you don't move your car NOW i will section 59 you and take your car off you! was not interested in a word i had to say... so i took what he had to say and drove off. and now when ever i see that same guy he gives me the intimidating stare. i thought that having a car like mine, not a gazzed up corsa or saxo it would pull me away from the young lad / boy racer scene but in the eyes of the law obviously not its all on age. because that other 19 yr old lad smashed that window, mugged that old lady, because the other young lad spoke to him with an attitide... we're all the same. I said in my previous post that i do have respect for the law and what they do. hats off to them, i'd love to do it but dont have the balls. but then to be 'intimidated and spoken with an attitude' for pulling over to use my phone, its not fair in my opinion. you know if he'd have turned around and said 'oh right, ok lad just checking, oh and well done for pulling over' i would have been left on a much lighter note. what i was getting at is the way some of them come across and the attitude they use against some people because of the certain 'group' they believe they fall into. everyone has the right to be spoken to as an individual. now Daggle, i'm sorry if i've upset/annoyed you. i hope this post will explain where i'm coming from a little more. I know not al the Police are the same. get on well with some of them, and the community support team.
