So I was crusing around in my car with my misses, when I noticed coppers were following me.

I thought "balls, there gonna have me for not wearing a seat belt."

I parked up and they asked if it was my car, I said yes, and told I was speeding. I thought :? , he then said I was going 31 1/2, and to slow it down a bit. He then drove off.

Is it me, or that super-stupid?

super studid... a) you are allowed 10% more than the speed limit to allow for speedo discrpeency, error etc...

and b, how they accuratly judged your speed to within 1/2 an mph from a moving car is a little suspicious?

thats a good one

better than "we have pulled you over because your car looked suspicious"

i ask in what way,

he says, well, its old, it might be stolen

WHAT?????

lol.

then i asked if they just wanted to have a look round the car cause they dont see them much and got chatting, good copper in the end of the day :)

although some are knobs.

i got taken into the back of a car because my car was having a noisy day (inlet manifold leak) and they went thru the whole "if you do not say this will be given in evidence in court"

i was like, its not illegal to drive a car thats noisier because it has developed an air leak, it is road legal, im not going to court.

followed by him telling me to stop being cheeky and to see my drivers license n insurance.

i had the license on me and the insurance was in the car, so i said, and he said well im going to give you a producer, if you do not produce your documents within 14 days you will go to court.

and it was like... i HAVE them if you take these foookin childlocks off and show you, you're making me drive my car more, which you have pulled me over for driving cause it sounded like it was on its last legs!

coppers never make sence!

haha, i had my rights read when i got pulled over for black/silver plates

strange thing is, the copper didnt ask for any documentation to prove the car was mine, didnt ask to see my licence or anythin, so if the car was stolen they wouldnt have bloody known anyway!!!

As with anything, there's good guy's and bad guy's.

only times ive been pulled are to talk about the car cos they used to have one syndrome, same with the xr4x4 when i had that  still sometimes a pain in the arse, seems to be less frequent we in older cars get pulled now, cos they can check on the computa  if were insured/taxed/motd

sounds like u were just unlucky and got a twaty mary of a copper or one who was takin the piss a bit

Its you. It sounds like he was joking at your expense. If he was an arse you would of had a fixed penalty. You should be glad he let you off

you can do the speed limit plus 10 percant plus two miles an hour before they can do you for speeding

Sorry if you think I'm being ungrateful, but in my opinion there are better things the police can be doing then lecturing ppl for not wearing a seatbelt, i mean how long has it been a law but some ppl still think they look cool without one.

best thing to do is keep a dictaphone in your glovebox and hit record when you get pulled. also take the coppers name.

its probably a good thing them stopping older cars with the rate theyre getting nicked, it may be he was seeing if you would panic and try and do a runner.

2 good points mate....

but one funny thing bout this forum is when anything re police stupidity pops up, you know which members are coppers!

i neer have probs with the cops, 9 times out of ten, cooperation goes a very long way, even if you are a naughty boy! my bro got pulled over at 1 in the mornin, not speedin, cos the cops were bored... but they were aslso sound so on harm no foul!

lol.... i got pulled the other day for pulling over to take a phone call. finished the call. pulled off noticed an unmarked corsa following me (knew it was police as I'd seen the car talking to some hood rats earlier on in the evening) followed me a few hundred yards to my house where i stopped parked up parked right next to me and said... Dont worry Police. so what were you up to. i said sorry? he said, pulled over back down the road, i said taking a phone call. he said very well. so where do you live, i said well here. he said is, this your car. i said yea i have my docs in my car i can get them for you if you like he said no that's all have a good night.

i could understand if it looked suspicious but parked up in a residential area in a really distinctive car with my side lights on hardly sneaking around :?

I have huge respect for the Police and what they but really don't like how they stereotype because of my age :(

I just get pissed off with ppl moaning about the job that I do and love doing! See I could really get on my high horse over this but I don't see the point as I won't ever change anyones attitude to the Police. The thing is you are dammed if you do, dammed if you don't. If ppl didn't get stopped by the police then no-one would ever get caught, however if ppl are stopped then its all police harrasement!

Yes, I am passionate about my job, and I will defend it to the hilt. I work with a lot of mates who don't just do the job to take the money home at the end of the month, they do it because funnily enough, they care about the communities we live in. So dale131188 in his post, gets spoken to by the Police and from what I can see all he gets asked is what he is up to when he is parked in a side street and when he explains what is going on, the old bill say fine and leave?

So what would have been said if dale131188 had seen someone parked outside his house, maybe looking at his car on the driveway, possibly even on the phone whilst looking at it. Then he sees the old bill drive past and they hadn't stopped to ask what that person was doing? A lot of ppl would have moaned that the Police hadn't stopped to ask what was going on.

How do you know they were sterotypin the young? its not like you get a lot of old joyriders nickin old fords either is it?

That's why I get so fed up with ppl moaning about the Police,

And as for the orginal post, maybe they were just taking the piss? Some of us do have a sense of humour

I can understand the antagonism. I've not been stopped by the Police since I retired smashed up, but when I was working I got tugged 3 times, one guy was brilliant, I saw him tucked in a gate way at 3am as I shot past in a Senator with 3 numbers on the clock. When he caught up with me I was doing 60, I just got a bit of p*** taking and sent on my way. The other 2 times the guys that stopped me were complete a**holes. I was driving a partially restored Triumph 2000 that was primer and old paint. One got to the point of threatening to arrest me when I disagreed with the load of old pony he was giving me about various offences!!! I pulled out my Police test and inspect authorisatioin card and told him to bring it on. Then he got mad because I hadn't told him I was Old Bill when he stopped me!! It shouldn't have made any difference to the way I was spoken to. I put a word in his Inspectors ear about his attitude later that night. One bad copper gives every Cop a bad name, but trust me the good guys out number the bad. I would rather get stopped and checked than some little scrote get away with nicking my motor.
